I explain that sort of thing in my notes.
Now, y'know, THAT's what I need: a place to record WHY I did
it this way rather than that. Sure, I can remember the
first year, maybe two, after I decided. But I made some
decisions 30 years back and cannot for the life of me

I agree. There will be little use for it if there isn’t an option to just
export the shared events as a bunch of individual (unshared) events. That would
be a simple process.

Hi listers,
Ok I have watched the video and looked through the help but can't find an
answer to this. I have been looking at the Family Search integration interface.
If I select to share something with family search it brings up a dialog box
which has in the bottom left corner Source
Hi Brian,
OK that explains my left to right transfer question.
As for your question when I try and do a right to left there isn't any options
available. The box heading of SOURCE CITATION OPTIONS is there but there is
nothing under it. I know what should be there because I saw it in the video
Just to provide a bit more information. With more use I have found that
sometimes the options do display. I'm assuming this might have something to do
with the ACTION that it is about to perform but I'm not sure.

I can see now that if I am trying to bring a person across, say a child that I
might have missing then the source options are not there. However, if I do any
date based item (marriage, birth or death) then that works as does the name of
the actual person I am working on??

Hi Paula,
This is not quite correct. The search feature looks in a number of places to
determine if someone has been found in the census.
From the help Legacy looks in several places to see if the current census has
already been referenced for a particular person. These include event names
The main thing to bear in mind here is that it is generally not the App that
determines the accuracy of the GPS coordinates but the device itself. The app
just displays the position that the receiver has derived. The accuracy of
civilian GPS receivers is typically in the order of 10-20m
True and magnetic north have no effect on GPS accuracy. It is only relevant if
you are navigating with it.
Getting into datums is really beyond the scope of this group and is a little
complex. The differences in the datums that GPS units use will be far smaller
than the overall error in the
First one is an obvious typo. In the migration report dialog out has look BACK

correctly says forward.
Second for me anyway is when I do an origins or migration report I get error

Sorry I didn't trim that first e-mail. I can report restarting Legacy has fixed
the error 91 but the typo remains. I will submit a bug report.

Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone is noticing high CPU usage with V8. I use a netbook
and with V7.5 clicking from one person to another in family view is snappy with
response at less than 1 sec and CPU usage spiking to 20-30%. In V8 with the

Thanks Chris,
Of course it depends on the specs of your computer. My netbook has an Atom N270
processor and 2GB RAM. As I said it works perfectly with V7.5 but is terribly
slow with V8 even with PP turned off. Using the sample database with only 160
people is exactly the same. I assume if I
This, for me, makes shared events useless since the census data won’t appear
on the household member’s page in my Rootsweb exports. This makes sense when
you think about it, because of the limits of the gedcom format.

Thanks Kirsty,
Well I will be putting a change proposal in because it would be simple to
export a copy of the events to each person. Yes it won't be shared anymore but
that is far preferable to not existing at all. Essentially, with this as it is
you can't use shared events and then give
I guess I don't know why this is a problem either. If a SW source is to be
exported why don't they just export it as the nicely worded citation you see on
the screen?
Right now on my Worldconnect page I have this as a citation:

Title:
Hi Jay,
I guess the bits that are applicable are:
0 @S437@ SOUR
1 ABBR Australia, NSW, Electoral Rolls, Ancestry.com
1 TITL Australian Electoral Rolls 1903-1980
1 AUTH NSW, Australia
1 PUBL Digital images. Ancestry.com Operations Inc. ancestry.com.
2 CONC au . http://www.ancestry.com.au : 2010
Yes that is true but the point is that it would be preferable for Legacy to
simply output a single source which looks the footnote/endnote citation we see
in the program.

getting attached to all witnesses but that is for the other thread!

I seem to remember that with the initial release of version 7 there were a lot

Hi Pat,
Yes I use Live Sync to synchronise between my netbook and main PC. Live Sync, I
believe, is better than some other programs people are suggesting (eg. Dropbox)
because you can synchronise any folder on one computer with any other folder on
any other computer (or any number of computers
You don't even need to install anything. You can just hit the print screen (PRT

I note that SMGF is not on the list of testing companies. That would be a handy

Hello all,
Whilst I am liking the census list tool very much I have noted that it still
suggests people might be in a census who have moved to other countries. For
example, Joe BLOW is in the 1841 census in London but moves to Australia in
1845 but is still showing up in the 1851 census list.

It works that way if I have one of those entries for the country in question.

If you include the Country in your Census/Residence Events then the manner in

Yes that may be the case but the question I am asking is once I have put into

I think the intent is clear. There is a 50% chance that the person will be at
the specified location. This then allows you to filter out those individuals
who are unlikely (50%?) to be in the country being searched.
The problem is without knowing what causes the percentages to drop and by how
It's whatever location that is listed which could be a town. Here is one from

So it is saying there is a 90% chance that you will find that person in Ince,
Lancashire and the program came
I'll also add I completely agree with this statement of yours but I don't think
that is what the census list is doing although an astute person would take the
suggested location and view it in terms of what you have written below.
