As I understand it, we'll need to address rpc compat and friends in BLFS.

Doesn't that break nss ?

Or, see Armin's comments at the end of BLFS #9285.

That was earlier today. I've restored it. Will probably commit in the
next hour or two. I've completed sysv tests, I just need to do a test
build of systemd.

Or, see Armin's comments at the end of BLFS #9285.

We release {,b}lfs-sys{v,temd} at the same time with a target date of
September 1st.

We go into a blfs package freeze around August 15th. It's hard to wait
for the latest of everything, but I intend to update the the next plasma
release dye August 22nd. Once we tag a packages as checked against
lfs-8.1, we only update that after freeze for security issues.

Does blfs do a release around the same time as lfs does? (I'm asking
because postgresql-10 is on its third beta).

I am following the CLFS-dev book. When installing

I am too. In Chapter 6 glibc you will need:

sed '/test-installation/s@$(PERL)@echo not running@' -i ../Makefile

before make install (from DJ).

I also removed --enable-obsolete-rpc but I need to investigate more.

The --enable-obsolete-nsl option is not needed if the sed above is used.
I am now doing a full build with all tests to check any regressions. That
will take a couple of hours. I then intend to do a systemd build with the
new dbus. Then I will commit the changes if no show stoppers occur.

If all goes well, this should be the lfs-8.1-rc1 build.

On glibc, I plan to use both obsolete (--enable-obsolete-rpc and
--enable-obsolete-nsl) options because the installation step bomb out
if I use only obsolete-rpc without using the second option.
