Hi,
I am reading the BLFS errata for the stable sysv version and I was
wondering if, when following the instructions for the development book,
would I need to install the updated recommended dependencies as well?
For example, for Firefox it gives a note that without the
recommended dependencies,

Bruce,
I checked those files and they seem fine to me, nothing weird. And
everything seems to be booting fine.

Thomas,
You might have something there. I am using Slackware's package manager
which in my SlackBuild scripts, I am using the /tmp directory to untar and
do work in. In fact, today it retained permissions consistently (I
restarted once and then again to double check), so maybe it was a
Hi,
For some reason my /tmp directory keeps resetting to 0755 and I would have
to manually resetting back to the correct permissions 1777 everytime. I
figured this out when I couldn't start my X server the other day and this
was the issue.
I did find this question

Hi,
I'm trying to install libnotify but I was having trouble getting passed the

Hi,
I went through most of the X Window chapter in the BLFS version 9.1 but I
can't seem to get the server going. I've attached my Xorg log file for
reference.
It's saying "XKB: Couldn't compile keymap" but I have XKBConfig installed.
Could I be missing something?

not sure if anyone else is having the same issue but would this version
be OK?

Actually, I've found that it matched the .bz2 tarball instead of the .xz
one.

Hi,
I found that the MD5 checksum doesn't match the one for the stable BLFS for
package xf86-video-intel-20200218.

I just recently got a message from ldconfig saying that a file "is

Hi,
I've ran make check after flex was installed and I get some errors
regarding the diagnostic tests and I'm not sure why. I've followed the book
up to that point to a t.
Although it seems that these tests are optional and even the log for bison
in lfs i7 test-log
Correction: "running these tests" (for util-linux).

Hi,
I'm trying to run the test suite as a non-root user for Util-linux for the
LFS version 9.1 but I keep getting 1 test failure for "column: invalid
multibyte" test.
I'm on an x86_64 bit machine, using pacman package manager. Here are the
