If you had AutoRecovery set up, changes should have been saved during idling.

On top of m_a_riosv's question about having autosave set up, I'd recommend
updating to version 24.2, which now has AutoRecovery and Backup Copies turned
on by default (on a new profile), along with some bug fixes.
Please see:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/24.2#Core_/_General

If you didn't have AutoRecovery turned on, I'd say we can mark this as
duplicate of bug 152463.

[Bug 160612] New: LibreOffice Writer failed to auto-save my work, so it was lost when Windows ran a software update

2024-04-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160612

Bug ID: 160612
Summary: LibreOffice Writer failed to auto-save my work, so it
was lost when Windows ran a software update
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.8.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: charlesboe...@gmail.com

Description:
When Windows ran an overnight software update and restart without
permission/signoff, LibreOffice Writer failed to auto-save my work in three
Writer files that were open at that time. So I log on in the morning to
discover that the files had reverted to the previous saved version rather than
an auto-save. Hours of writing work lost. Beware.

Actual Results:
Have previously saved Writer files open when Windows conducts system software
update. Device is a 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1355U (1.70 GHz) with 32 GB
RAM, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor.

Expected Results:
Files had reverted to the previous saved version rather than an auto-save.

Reproducible: Didn't try

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Auto save ongoing work so that recovery process can access latest work rather
than reverting to previous save (which in this case was days ago)

It is Tools > AutoCorrect > AutoCorrect Options > "Automatic *bold*, /italic/,
-strikeout- and _underline_" who is doing the trick.

Disable that option would solve your problem.

Please be polite when posting on this bugzilla - No one is forcing your to use
LibreOffice.

One feature is a good feature for some other people, and may be a bad behaviour
for you... Anyway, there is an option do disable this.

Who's the fucking idiot that decided “/\x/” should be replaced without being
able to turn it off in autocorrect? Yes, I spent two hours disabling every

hello Rosemary,

first, i applaud your courage at looking at Writer's redlining code.

looking at commit b2fa5f3f5ee68a0aa2225d7b5aa80ccef2cb70ac i am not
convinced that using SwUndoDelete for redline deletions is the way to go.

the changes are incomplete, in that they only prevent deleting the text
in the start/end nodes of the selection; you'd also have to disable the
SaveContent() that copies everything to the undo-nodes-array, and the
bMoveNds case that moves complete nodes to the undo-nodes-array, and the
DelContentIndex() that deletes various things that are anchored in the
selection but which should be kept in the redline, at which point there
isn't much left...

and of course, as you found, you can't combine a UndoDelete with
redlining enabled with one that had redlining disabled anyway.

you'll end up with a class that has even more complicated conditional
code than SwUndoDelete already has.

i guess it would be much simpler to figure out why
SwUndoRedlineDelete::CanGrouping() doesn't work and fix that; apparently
the redline itself is combined just fine, only the Undo action isn't.

some testing indicates it worked in OOo 3.3 but broke in OOo 3.4 beta so
it's quite possible that the bug is my fault, cf. CWS undoapi ...

Regarding my work on grouping delete undo actions with Track Changes set

2017-08-06 Thread Rosemary Sebastian
Hello everyone

Currently we have a separate class SwUndoRedlineDelete to take care of undo
delete actions with Track Changes set. But the CanGrouping function in the
class does not serve any purpose in reality.

>From what I understand making the function work again would mean
reimplementing the undo-redo mechanisms that are already implemented in
SwUndoDelete class. So I propose that we drop the SwUndoRedlineDelete class
and instead rework the SwUndoDelete class to handle redline delete
undo-redo actions as well.

Due to lack of feedback on gerrit, I created a remote feature branch
feature/sw-delete-undo-rework for this task. You can track the progress
here:
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/?h=feature/sw-delete-undo-rework
.

If you have any concerns regarding my work, please write to the mailing

Thank you a lot for your changes; unfortunately this way makes it quite
hard for us to integrate :-(

Can you at least produce unified diff of the change; like:

diff -pu original_file.cxx changed_file.cxx > result.diff

and send us the diff? Even better would be just to commit locally, and
send us the result of git format-patch - or send that directly to gerrit
using git push origin master:refs/for/master (as the others already
pointed out here).

Maybe it is not straight-forward the first time, but if you managed to
fix a problem in writerfilter, I'm sure handling git must be a piece of
cake for you :-)

More information here:

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/gerrit/SubmitPatch

Thank you a lot!

All the best,
Kendy

As Thorsten already wrote: You either forgot to attach them, or it

That aside: protomail.ch employs DMARC, which means that e.g. gamil
