https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=74169 --- Comment #4 from David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com --- (In reply to comment #3) The format is pretty simple You only think that because you have never seen a document with complex layout, charts, tables and other objects in it. and XML so I wouldn't say reverse engineering would be needed. You would be wrong. That the format is XML does not mean it is immediately obvious what the elements/attributes and their values mean. And how they work together. E.g., the parameters for parametrized shapes (stars, arrows, quote bubbles, etc.) are saved as opaque numeric values. Or take tables. Most of the table-related elements and attributes are 1-3 letter abbreviations. What is even better: only non-empty cells are actually saved. The position of the next filled cell (i.e., row and column) is saved, inventively, using a single attribute. (Of course, first you need to discover that this attribute--which is called sf:ct--has anything to do with the placement of cells in the grid...) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63259] shift f3 I.wrong Order II.cursorposition
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63259 yuzejya zrou...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #3 from yuzejya zrou...@gmail.com --- I confirm the wish II: If the cursor is at the beginning or at the end of a word (space/hard-space/tab precedes or follows the word), there is no action/change on pressing shift-F3. I do not see anything, which would restrict NOT to change the capitalization, while the cursor is at the beginning or end of a word. I understand the problem I. the following way: The shift-F3 cycles thought its values (Capital At The Beginning, ALL CAPITALS, all lowercase) independently of what the underlying word is. Confirmation: I can jump from word to word and press shift-F3 at at jump. and I see the changes happening in a cycle. To make the same changes in multiple selections in a row requires tripe shift-F3. There are two other possible behaviors of shift-F3: behavior Ia: check on the capitalization of the word under cursor or in selection and modify to the next capitalization mode in the cycle (this was suggested by d.des...@gmx.de). That is sometimes tricky: What is the capital of New York (NY)? (which capitalization has this sentence?) behavior Ib: always start at the beginning of the cycle, independently of what was changed previously, or what is the capitalization of the word under the cursor. This would save some keystrokes: the user should know, that a single shift-F3 keystroke gives him all lowercase, two keystrokes Capital At The Beginning and three keystrokes ALL CAPITALIZED. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68123] Other: Bibliography examples misleading hard to use
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68123 --- Comment #2 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com --- (In reply to comment #0) The Bibliography tool gives misleading examples, making how to use it confusing. The specific problem is with the Identifier field. In the entry form this is called the Short Name. The first problem is that the field needs to be named consistently. The second problem is that the example entries for the field are nonsensical. Although you wouldn't know it from the names, the field is actually the form that the citation should take within the text -- for example, (Smith: 1997) in the APA style. The nonsensical examples should be replaced with one that will actually indicate the purpose of the field, such as In-Text Citation. Seems like it would be a good idea to keep the documentation team informed of any changes made in this respect. I do not know what the standard method of doing this is, otherwise I would make the change. Is the Documentation ML added as a CC? 2.) [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69386] Index entry terms sometimes trigger random style change (italic or bold)
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69386 --- Comment #5 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com --- (In reply to comment #2) Hazel sent me a sample document allowing to reproduce the bug. I use version 4.1.2.1 and confirm the problem with italic and bold triggered in the text. There appears to be extensive use of overriding formatting (paragraph style character style direct formatting) in that attachment. The document may therefore not be the best example, although it /may/ still be an issue. I am not clear on what is expected behaviour given this type of formatting. To be clear, the italic issue is displayed on the 1st page in the 4th paragraph beginning The widespread occurrence ... and the bold issue is displayed on the 2nd page in the 2nd paragraph beginning The simplest desktops Opening the ODT with an archive manager and examining the XML I can see these style entries (styles.xml): style:style style:name=Emphasis style:family=text style:text-properties fo:font-style=italic style:font-style-asian=italic style:font-style-complex=italic/ /style:style style:style style:name=file style:family=text style:text-properties fo:font-weight=bold style:font-size-asian=10.5pt/ /style:style These are both character styles (for italic and bold respectively) and yet they have been applied to the entire text e.g., in content.xml the 1st paragraph on the 1st page is defined: text:p text:style-name=Standard text:span text:style-name=Emphasis text:span text:style-name=T3forces users to buy a new computer every time a new version comes out. That is certainly not what users want! Instead it’s very much what the computer manufacturers want, and Microsoft gives it to them to ensure that they will go on putting Windows onto every box they sell. Microsoft also frequently makes arbitrary and sweeping changes to the user interface, with little concern for whether users like it or not. Windows 8 is a particularly crass example. /text:span /text:span /text:p The inner (T3) direct formatting is overriding the Emphasis character style, which in turn is overriding the Standard paragraph style. Where the two alphabetical marks appear these inner direct formatting elements (e.g., T3 in the example shown) are being lost and so the text is reverting to the character style in effect on that paragraph (either italic or bold) for the remainder of the text. Clear direct formatting does not remove character styling, so what Hazel describes makes sense. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

LO uses the configuration code before it decides to copy presets to a yet missing user installation. The configuration code would not read registrymodifications.xcu once it has been copied into the user installation (so the currently running LO instance would not use those settings) and, more severely, would overwrite the copied registrymodifications.xcu with only the changes done locally in the running LO instances (and it does do some such changes behind the scenes for bookkeeping purposes). The recommended way to install site-wide configuration settings is via an extension that is installed as shared or bundled. (My understanding of the presets folder in general is that it is an implementation detail of LO. It may happen to work to modify existing files in there to install site-wide settings, but to my knowledge that has never been the intent of that folder.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I suspect this is an autosave issue where autosave is failing and just bombing out with a crash. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a Google Document which consists of a table of text with 11pt Calibri as the body. 2. Export the Google Doc as .odt and save it locally. 3. Open up the downloaded .odt in Writer, type a few lines in the table of text. 4. Select the table of text (Ctrl+A) and change its style to Arial 10pt. 5. Carry on typing several paragraphs. 6. At some point, Writer will freeze and bomb out. On recovery you'll realise that you are missing the text you entered. 7. Data loss is bad. Really bad. Current behavior: Writer crashes unexpectedly, no new text entered since document was last opened is saved. This is a DATA LOSS bug. Expected behavior: Writer autosaves without crashing. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73277] Cell's indent in RTL
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73277 --- Comment #9 from Ady ady...@hotmail.com --- Since version 4.2.0 is being released, it might be important to note that there are some changes related to RTL features. The testing procedure I posted in comment #8 is intended for version 4.1.4.2. Since the RTL *text direction* icon might already set right-alignment for other versions, the testing procedure might need a slight modification, as follows. 1_ Start a new clean Calc workbook. 2_ Type-in several cells with some text. Insert the text, without any prior cell formatting. To ease the testing procedure, I would suggest using cells in one column only. 3_ Select the cells with text. 4_ Click on the RTL icon. 5_ If the cells are not yet set to right-align (see whether the right-align icon is pressed), then click on the right-alignment text icon. 6_ With the cells still selected, click on the increase indent icon. Note that the icon itself shows the arrow (or triangle) pointing from left-to-right, but the effect is not to add indentation from the left to the right side. The expected behavior of this icon is increase indentation. It does indeed look like this bug is related to bug 73904. Also, it appears that both bugs affect both Draw and Impress. To sum up, Using Find, Find Replace, or Spell check in either Draw or Impress will cause LO to crash when it searches again from the beginning of the document. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
