[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70107] New: PPT EDITING: Easy To Crash With Rapid Undo

2013-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70107

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 70107
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: PPT EDITING: Easy To Crash With Rapid Undo
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: andersonm...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.2.3 rc
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

Hello,

I was requested to post this after complaining on Facebook, haha, so glad to
see that LibreOffice is genuinely concerned about product improvement!
Basically when I am making a Presentation document, saved as .ppt, LibreOffice
will crash extremely easily when I rapidly press undo (command-Z). Not talking
dozens of times, like three or four times if I've moved some text around or
something minor like that.
Then the rainbow spinning ball will take over on the Mac, LibreOffice crashes,
and any recent work disappears and is unrecoverable. Not the worst of errors I
suppose, but reliable in its annoyance factor... I have the latest version of
the software on a 2011 model MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.5.

Thanks
Anderson

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68927] FORMATTING: SVG images are converted to bitmap if used as page wide background

2013-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68927

--- Comment #12 from Lance Haverkamp la...@thehaverkamps.net ---
(In reply to comment #11)
I see it has been confirmed in comment 10.

The problem doesn't effect a lot of users at their daily work. So not a
 major issue.

I guess that depends how you use LibreOffice, now doesn't it. No, it has
little effect on IT people students writing homework. But for those of use
who do a lot of graphics, like newsletters, advertising, flyers, client
presentations, etc.; this is an annoyance that's be resurrected far too many
times. I think SVG handling has been re-broken every time someone has looked
at graphics since OOo 3.3.

Offending document in XPS format

(In reply to comment #1)
 I can't reproduce crash with LO 4.0.6.1 (Win7 32bit).

@Michael, have you tried resetting user profile? And you could also try
 4.1.2.3 that was just released.

Yes, I did try resetting the profile and that did not help. As for testing, I'd
appreciate if someone already with 4.1.2.3 can confirm whether issue is
resolved or not.

(In reply to comment #2)
Could you attach a PDF of the correct view of this document? It looks very
 weird.

No PDF, I've included an XPS version though, hope that is ok with you.

(In reply to comment #3)
it seems that a regression happened during 4.0.x and 4.1.x development which
has subsequently been fixed during 4.2 alpha stage with backporting to 4.0.6
 and probably 4.1.2

I'd prefer to wait till someone can actually confirm 100% that 4.1.2 opens the
file succesfully. I avoid Libreoffice deployments, since some are remote sites
from the active directory server and installation takes a while. Seems like
I'll have to reinstall this time again in less than a week. Oh well, still love
LibO :)

I think it would be useful if Spreadsheet editor can keep the original text
delimiters and separators of CSV documents.

It is a related to this question:
http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/23332/csv-files-lose-formatting-after-save/

People use CSV files to import/export records from different apps and hardware.
These tools often do not prepared to handle different kind of formatting. I
know it is possible with additional Save As steps but it is not
user-friendly.

I have edited this bug priority to high as it renders LibreOffice draw pretty
much useless for its intended task. It is an old bug that has been around for a
long time, but in combination with other current bugs it is almost fatal.

I hope it can be attended to before the next release as it is a major gotcha
for enterprise or professional use of Draw.

Hi,
That extension does actually do everything you're looking for - I wonder if
we can just incorporate it into our code -
 http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/review-toolbar/
 pscreleasefolder.2011-12-03.6583332356/201204.12.0.1

This extension is very useful and the functions are satisfying but i think
-because of being crucial functions on review process- having Compare Document
and Merge Document functions in this toolbar will be great.

Hope to have this soon.

Best regards,
Zeki

- Does it happen with all files with that extension?
- Have you ensured all options of VBA Properties Microsoft Office under

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70067] FILEOPEN: .doc file which opens fine in LibO 3.6.x throws recovery dialog in 4.0.x and 4.1.x

2013-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #6 from Michael Pappas painful...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #5)
the libo_crash.doc file opens fine with LO 4.1.2.2.

So it seems that the issue is resolved in 4.1.2.2, thank you.

prob_file.xps throws and error asking if I want LO to try and repair the
file which does not work. if the latter is expected this can be considered
WORKSFORME. If the latter should also work, we should maybe re-open this?

prob_file.xps does not open with Libo. It opens with the Microsoft XPS viewer.

I have tried the suggestions, but still failed at that time. In the mean-time
have upgraded to v4.1.2.2 and will test against this branch. If functional, the
bug can be closed.

I can verify this behavior, tested using LibreOffice Version: 4.1.2.3
Build ID: 40b2d7fde7e8d2d7bc5a449dc65df4d08a7dd38

Also reproducible using LibreOffice Version 4.0.0.3 (Build ID:
53fd80e80f44edd735c18dbc5b6cde811e0a15c)
TinderBox: MacOSX TDF Release, Branch:libreoffice-4-0, Time:
2013-01-31_11:01:36

After editing the formula, all Russian symbols are gone or replaced by a or
other symbols.

Marking as critical low.
Critical: loss of data
Low: didn't saw this problem already, only reproducible in this case

Kind regards,
Joren

@Julien: Date acceptance pattern (1.) is a setting in Tools Options
Language Settings Languages. Date format (2.) is the cell format :).

I fail to reproduce this bug. Did step 1 and 2, but after entering 28/08
LibreOffice isn't recognizing this as a date (so it stays 28/08 and left
aligned in the cell).

Tested using Mac OSX 10.8.5 with LibreOffice 4.1.2.3 and 4.0.0.3 rc.

Kind regards,
Joren

Don't know whether it's similar to Bug 57185 with different error message.

I've never do upgrading so never experience error. I always did fresh
install (uninstall old version, then install new version). Maybe you could
 try that as workaround.

@Raimer Ettmer: did this 'workaround' worked for you? (uninstall and install
newer version)?

sorry, I meant Bug 68407 and Bug 67130

Just a question: why do you think bug 33798 is a different problem (because
it's about writer calc?)?

Otherwise bug 67130 is also wrongly marked as a dupe of bug 33798.
Lets mark this bug as dupe of bug 67130 and eventually unduplicate that bug
from 33798 if it turns out it's not a duplicate.

I agree that the default should be to keep the same field and text delimiters.
If the user wants to change then it should be his/hers *option*, not a software

Impress does not support _any_ video format.

It relies on OS components to play video and audio formats,
such as GStreamer on Linux, QuickTime on Mac and
DirectWhatever on Windows.

If you install the right codecs in the OS then it should work.

@bug reporter: is this bug still reproducible using LibreOffice 4.1.x and +?

I fail to reproduce this behavior using Mac OSX 10.8.5 and Windows 8 using
LibreOffice 4.0.0.3 release and 4.1.2.1 rc (download:
http://www.libreoffice.org/download).

Kind regards,
Joren

Is the bug still present in Writer or just in Calc? Hope it will be fixed soon.
I'm upgrading to 4.1 only when it will be fixed as seems quite severe for me...
4.1.2 is out and the bug is still there. Any news?

Have just tested this with LO 4.1.1.2 - can't confirm. In every line there
values are imported like expected, when I set the column in the import-dialog
to English-US (the decimal-separator is a dot).
When I wouldn't set it to English-US the dot is interpreted in German as a
thousands-separator. The dot is in line 3, 5, 9 at the right position for such
a separator.

Three files inside - *.odt, first saved and second saved *.csv

Open the attached *.odt-file.
Save this file as *.csv. You could see in the attached file, how it works: Puts
around all text - also the decimal-separated values - with a comma. Separates
all with the comma.
Load this file again in LO. Save it again.
All around the text has been gone. The fields are separated with a tabulator.

I expect LO would handle a file-saving the same way and hasn't to to with the
number of versions of a file I will save.

Both Insert Picture From File and File Open result in bad behavior.
(although the insertion is a bit less ugly :p)

In LibreOffice 4.1.2.3 rc Opening the svg using File Open result in bad
behavior, but inserting it is correct.

@Christina: not sure why inserting the image works, but importing it result in
such bad rendering. Doesn't these both rely on the same import filter?

Confirmed working perfectly in LibreOffice 3.6.7 in Windows. 4.0.0.3, and
 4.1.1 are not behaving correctly.

So marking it as a bug of version 4.0.0.3

(In reply to comment #5)
The issue is confirmed fixed in the daily dev build:

So a possible target for this bug is 4.2.0. Would be interesting to verify it
with the release of 4.2.0 (first beta versions will be released somewhere
middle/end November 2013)

I could load the document in all versions, it doesn't crash per se, but eats a
large amount of memory (~4GB) which on some systems may lead to a crash if the
memory is not available, i.e. 32-bit environments (the Windows executable is
32-bit!) or insufficient swap-space.

@Moggi:
This may be due to conditional formats that are used a lot in that document.
Furthermore the memory is not released when closing the document.

Hi,

First time here. Not a developer... just a normal user.

I have this fairly complicated database and all was going well during its
development, until some two weeks ago, when Base started saving the files with
0 to 50kb completely corrupted (its size is, with some records, about 1.2 mb
normally).

Fortunatelly I had backups I made during the process of getting it working and
today I found the very odd cause (or trigger for the bug).

I suck at writing macros so, as a lot of people, I usually search the web for a
macro that does what I need. Whenever I use these simple macros bellow, Base
starts misbehaving again. I tested this in Windows and in Ubuntu 13.04. When I
erase these macros, the save function works normally...

For the PDF file there are 2 formulas marked (1) that look
significantly worse in 4.0.0.3 compared with 3.6.7.2.

the other formulas in the PDF look broken in the same way in all

For the VSD file you should have filed a separate bug in the first place
(only one problem per bug), but since comment #3 claims
that it works now that is no longer necessary now.

when I write something in calc sheet
e.g. 45 ml and i want the m to be written as micro which is done by
selecting the font of m as symbol. Now when I select the m and change the
font to symbols, and go to the next cell, the l right after m is also
converted to symbol font (in this case, it appears as lambda sign) which is not
desired. However, when I click in the cell again, the l is converted
automatically back to the normal font, but its very annoying as most of times,
it gives the impression that I have formatted both letters in symbol font which
is not the case.

- Start typing in a cell, that is not in editing mode, just has the focus
- Decide that you need to go back in what you typed (arrow left).
Then first you need to hit F2

So far so good. But what if you work in the cell a bit longer and do not
remember if you already hit F2 ?

- Hitting F2 again makes that the cell looses editing mode, because it works as
toggle function.

This is not needed.
Hitting F2 when the cell is in editing mode, should not leave that mode
