Well, it's not actually linking, but inserting. Insert - Object - OLE Object.

Let's close this, then.

Your trace looks OK. It always complains about some symbol file being found,
but if there is a real problem, there are more complaints.

There is not dependency on Cygwin. Cygwin is just used when building from
source under Windows.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104772] New: Arabic (or RTL) support needs various improvements

2016-12-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104772

Bug ID: 104772
Summary: Arabic (or RTL) support needs various improvements
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Localization
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: malhobay...@gmail.com

Description:
When writing Arabic various bugs/misbehaviors are noticed:
- Go To End of line:
-- Shortcut for English is: Command + Right Arrow
-- Shortcut for Arabic is: Command + Right Arrow
--- However, in Arabic (RTL-Langauges) it should be: Command + Left Arrow

- Go To Start of line:
-- Shortcut for English is: Command + Left Arrow
-- Shortcut for Arabic is: Command + Left Arrow
--- However, in Arabic (RTL-Langauges) it should be: Command + Right Arrow

- ًText, Spaces and Numbers:
-- In Arabic, when I write text followed by a space/spaces the space/spaces
appears at the beginning of the line. Example:
-- I want to write: "I am " it becomes " I am"
-- I want to write: "I am " it becomes " I am"
-- Notice the space move to the beginning of the line.
-- So, when I write anything after the space/spaces everything is corrected:
-- So, when I write "Mohammad" after " I am" it becomes "I am Mohammad" the
two spaces are now preserved between "am" and "Mohammad" and they are moved
from the beginning of the line to their correct position.
-- However, if I write a number instead of writing "Mohammad" a different story
happens.
-- I will write 10 after " I am", it becomes " I am10 years old" the
space/spaces stay at the beginning and the number is written after "am" without
any spaces.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.1. Switch language to Arabic (RTL)
1.2.1. Type any Arabic text, type spaces (paste this: "محمد ") without quotes
1.2.2. Type any Arabic text, type spaces, type number (paste this: "محمد 10
محمد") without quotes, or you can replace 10 with Arabic digits "١٠" without
quotes

2.1. Switch language to Arabic (RTL)
2.2. Type Arabic (Or English in RTL mode)
2.3. Use the shortcut to move cursor to end or start of line

Actual Results:
Spaces positions are not preserved with and without digits after that.
To end and to start of line misbehave in Arabic (RTL) language.

Expected Results:
Spaces should preserve their position.
To end and to start of line in Arabic (RTL) should behave opposite than how
they behave now.

Description:
We have OCR'ed newspapers and we tried to open one of them in LibreOffice.
Unfortunately, it exposes the underlying selectable text as green text, when in
fact if you open this in Adobe Reader then the text is invisible until you
select it.

Steps to Reproduce:
Open the attached PDF in LibreOffice
Open the attached PDF in Acrobat Reader

Now save the document to PDF, then open it in Acrobat Reader

Actual Results:
Note the difference - Acrobat Reader no text shows until you select it, in
LibreOffice the text is immediately visible (and an odd shade of green).

If you then export the document as a PDF and open it in Acrobat Reader it now
shows all the text as green over the top of the newspaper archive.

I'm expecting the text to remain invisible.

I'm guessing this might be a localization (foreign language) issue.

See the legend starting at the bottom of page 18, for R W (R) (W) and R+W.

I can only guess that this legend was intended to explain the L/S columns that
follow it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104768] New: Poor linking to Macro documentation

2016-12-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104768

Bug ID: 104768
Summary: Poor linking to Macro documentation
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.3.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Documentation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bridgeportcontrac...@gmail.com

PROPOSED SOLUTION: I imagine the simplest solution might be to append this
link:

   https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications

to this page:

   http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/

---
PROBLEM: Perhaps a html link was accidentally deleted from LibreOffice.org,
but at the moment, an important link to LO documentation is mislocated I think.

Let's take the example of drilling down to find the LibreOffice Base Handbook,
containing Chapter 9, "Macros".

The only link I can find to it is from here:

  https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications

The trouble is, how does one get from LibreOffice.org, to this page to find it?

If you start at LibreOffice.org and click on Get Help | Documentation, you
won't find any reference to this important Base documentation manual covering
Macros.

Notes:

1: I've also looked through the other resources from LibreOffice.org | Get
Help | Documentation, leading here:
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/ but the resources there are
only introductory, and for recorded macros.

2: So far, I've found the LibreOffice Base Handbook the very best, most
recent, LO resource to explain Macro programming. If there is something newer,
and/or more obvious, I would be interested.

3: Here's how you can, circuitously, drill down to this documentation from
LibreOffice.org:

 * You have to click on "Community" and then select "wiki", which I don't
think is a very obvious way to find documentation.

Here is that procedure in detail:

Starting at: http://www.libreoffice.org/

Click "Community" on the menu, then select "Wiki"

This takes you to: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Main_Page

Then go down to "Teams", and "Documentation", and click on: "Guides"

This takes you to:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Publications where you can
scroll down to find this manual:

Browse down to: "LibreOffice Base Handbook",
then down to "chapter 9 Macros"

The bug is around here:

cChar = GetHTMLCharName( sEntity );
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/svtools/source/svhtml/parhtml.cxx#488

It parses alphanumeric characters, and finds "pid", which corresponds to no
HTML character (this is the above point in the code), and afterwards it tries
if any prefix of it does, and finds "pi".

Bug ID: 104766
Summary: FILESAVE is apparently arbitrary for database table
information changes and saves.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.3.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: aer...@gmail.com

Description:
Base consistently does NOT save changes, regardless of saving table information
and then saving the database. There is no error message. There does not
appear to be a failure until you reopen the database and ALL the changes are
gone.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create several tables
2.Add descriptions for data fields
3.Save the table changes
4.Save the database
5.Reopen the database

Actual Results:
Complete loss of changes to multiple tables, including switches (Autonumber)
and descriptions of data fields.

Expected Results:
It consistently does NOT save changes, regardless of saving table information
and then saving the database.

Reproducible: Sometimes

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104765] New: Base doesn't work under OS X

  Reporter: cte39...@centurytel.net

Here's the transcript of your chat with Apple Support:

Sunday, Dec 18, 2016 06:30 PM
Duration 74 minutes 18 seconds

Jermeca

Thanks for contacting Apple Support. My name is Jermeca. Please give me a
moment to look over your information.

Jermeca

Hi Larry, hope all is well!  How can I help you today?

cte39...@centurytel.net

I use LibreOffice. About once a year, I use the database. It won't work
because it appears there is a dependency on Java 6 runtime.

cte39...@centurytel.net

I tried the Apple Java 6 download, but it doesn't provide the JRE.

cte39...@centurytel.net

I tried the Oracle Java 8 JRE. It doesn't work.

cte39...@centurytel.net

Any suggestions?

Jermeca

Ok, so just to clarify, you are having issues with running LibreOffice because
it runs on Java 6 only. You have tried the Java 6 download that we provide
here: Java but it did not work as well as updating to the latest Have version
and that did not work either, is that correct? Also what version of OS X are
you currently on?

Jermeca

Java 6

Jermeca

Sorry about that!

cte39...@centurytel.net

You've got the problem that I'm having while using OS X 10.12.2.

Jermeca

Got it! Thank you for clarifying your issue for me. I do know how important it
is for you to have your device working properly for you I will be more than
happy to assist 

Jermeca

So what’s going on is that Java 6 does not work on Os X Sierra because it is
the newest software and runs the newest version of Java, which is Java 8. Java
6 is only compatible with OS X 10.11 El Capitan, OS X 10.10 Yosemite, OS X 10.9
Mavericks, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, and OS X 10.7 Lion. Does the software you
are trying to use possibly have an available update so that it can run on Java
8?

cte39...@centurytel.net

The current (Java 8) runtime works with LibreOffice operating in Windows or
Linux. This appears to be problem with OS X not supporting Java runtime.

cte39...@centurytel.net

I understand the security reasons for that decision, but what am I to do for a
work around?

cte39...@centurytel.net

I am on the most recent stable version of LibreOffice on all systems.

Jermeca

Alright, so let me go ahead and reach out to a senior advisor here to see what
can be done. Just one moment please 

Jermeca

Thank you for that moment Larry. So it looks like there is a short wait for a
senior advisor here, about 10-12 minutes. I’m so sorry about that. While we
wait, I will be researching this issue here to see if I can get a little more
information and I will keep you updated. Is that ok?

cte39...@centurytel.net

Sure, I've been searching for 2 days now. We can even terminate the chat to
resume at a later date. The only work around I've found so far is, "Stop
trying to migrate the data to OS X and keep this one application on the old
Windows system." I'd hoped for a more satisfactory end.

Jermeca

I definitely do understand for sure. One thing here, when you try to open the
program, does it quit at launch?

cte39...@centurytel.net

With no JRE, it asks for one...and ends when none is provided. With Java 8
JRE, it crashes when a table open is attempted. I should note that the writer
and spreadsheet applications do not demonstrate the Java dependency.

Jermeca

Gotcha! So yes, we’ll have to get you on the line with a senior advisor with
this issue here. If you did not have time to continue, we can definitely
schedule a callback for you or if you have time, we can continue. I have
someone on the line now, they are just reviewing your case.

cte39...@centurytel.net

The history of this beast looks like Apple noted (properly) security holes in
Java and declined support. Oracle responded by ending (retroactively)
downloads. LibreOffice is freely supported software that still works on "the
majority". I'm, apparently, stuck in the middle.

Jermeca

No problem at all. Thank you for that information. I did just speak with the
Senior Advisor ho reviewed your case here. They did advise that you would need
to reach to for support from the developers of the program for additional
assistance here since that program is relying on a Java to operated properly.

cte39...@centurytel.net

Then my workaround is what you suggest. You have no database alternatives or
JRE 6 resources?

Jermeca

Yes and no we do not have any JRE resources or alternatives for that particular
program. So sorry abut that Larry.

Jermeca

Are you still there?

cte39...@centurytel.net

OK. I'm disappointed.

Jermeca

I’m so sorry

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99006] FORMATTING: Freeze when attempting to Insert Index/ Table of Contents and editing a Style (non-admin Windows accounts)

2016-12-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99006

Win dump file captured using Task Manager on a running but unresponsive
instance of LO Writer with a scratch new text doc and first command in Writer
is Insert->TOC. Task Manager shows LO Writer consistent at ~17% CPU on a
4-core Intel i7. Security context is an *un*privileged user.

Attached text file is a listing of the WinDbg !analyze -v command run against
the dump file as a privileged user. Some items:

+ I used the symbol path list from the Wiki page copy/paste. Note WinDbg
complains it could not find a symbol file but alas does not indicate which one.
Someone please test the symbol data path given on the Wiki page as possibly
stale.

+ I note in the listing FAULTING_SOURCE_LINE indicates use of Cygwin64
components in LO. I am running Cygwin64 daemons syslog-ng and cygserver on
this machine, managed using the Windows/Computer Management/Service
infrastructure. Is there any indication in the LO end-user doc of dependence
on Cygwin or does the LO install or app startup test for an existing instance
of Cygwin and version compatibility if the is important?

I really, really, really suggest someone provide some detailed guidance for
parameter choices for MS ProcDump if that will increase the value that can be
extracted from a dump analysis.

Note: The WinDbg command 'kp' merely lists a summary stack trace of a stopped
process. One actually has to understand breakpoint debugging to know you have
to stop the process in the first place. I have that listing as well but it is
not that informative.

After much testing using 5.3 B2 with a clean profile. I have been able to
determine that the data will not return from any DB I have that gets it's
connection through an ODBC data source. The ODBC data source is connected to
Access 2016. When I open the db file all connections are good. I also created a
new DB file that connects directly to an Access DB. I created a query then
tested data to table and it worked fine. The failure has something to do with
the odbc connection. It is curious that the data is there.

Did some testing today - and one option that i didn't expect seems to be the
problem: My pdf-viewer! I use Pdf-X-Change Viewer a long time now and without
ever having problems interpreting pdf-files.
However, in Acrobat-Reader DC, the umlauts in the testfiles pdf-export are
shown correctly. This occurs only with Liberation Sans, though.
I will have a try with 5.3 the next days but i now think this was indeed no
Libre-Office Bug at all-
Nevertheless - thanks for the support this far!!

Two more examples:

Example one:
- open spreadsheet with text "appeltaart" (or similar)
- Ctrl+F (search bar) type "taart", Enter, ESC
  > Cell selected
- hit Ctrl+F again for another search
  > search tool bar doesn't appear.

Example two:
- Presentation with shape
- menu View > Toolbars > Glue points
- Select shape
- menu Edit > Glue points
- click Edit Glue Points on toolbar
- add gluepoint to shape.
- done.. ESC
  > tool bar disappears and Edit Glue Points is deselected

- hit again menu View > Toolbars > Glue points
  > tool bar doesn't pop up again..

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104764] New: When inserting a chart using the wizard, an object shape obstruct cell selection

2016-12-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104764

Bug ID: 104764
Summary: When inserting a chart using the wizard, an object
shape obstruct cell selection
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: porke...@gmail.com

Description:
When inserting a chart using the wizard, an object (what will later become the
chart, but is still a white and empty shape at that stage of the wizard)
obstruct cell selection on part of the sheet, making it difficult to select
cells under this object.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In Calc, try to Insert > Chart…
2. Click on one of the buttons to select cells range in "Data series" or "Data
range" in the wizard.

Actual Results:
A white and empty shape is already placed on the sheet that should contain the
chart later. This object is placed over a large zone of cells so that if you
need to select cells under this object, you just can't do it. You can't even
see them.

Expected Results:
It should be possible to see and select cells over the whole sheet. Therefore,
the object should not be here at this step when using the wizard and should
either be created later, or be hidden at this step.

Reproducible: Always

2016-12-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104762

Bug ID: 104762
Summary: With Wayland, cells selection in Insert > Chart… is
acting random
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: porke...@gmail.com

Bug reproduced with both libreoffice-still and libreoffice-fresh on two
different Archlinux computers.

STR:
In Calc, try to Insert > Char… and click on one of the buttons to select cells
range in "Data Series" or "Data Range" in the wizard.

You will notice that when you hold your click and select cells, the rectangle
of your selection is acting pretty randomly, the limit often not stopping on
the cell under your cursor.

A second part to the problem is that even when you think you selected the
correct cells with what you see on your screen, when releasing your mouse
button it can happen that completed range text in the wizard window doesn't
match what was selected in the sheet.

When trying the same thing on a Xorg session, this bug doesn't occur,
reflecting this is only affecting Wayland.

Hmm, now I started getting assertion failed when closing *LibreOffice* instead

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104759] New: cell content not displaying in large Calc files after driver update

2016-12-18 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104759

Bug ID: 104759
Summary: cell content not displaying in large Calc files after
driver update
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: 2davidedwa...@gmail.com

Description:
Following an NVIDIA GeForce 310M driver driver update, large Calc files
appeared at first glance to be empty. None of the cells showed any content. If
one selected the cell it showed at the top but still not in the cell. Changes
of font, zoom, etc. made no difference. I rolled back to the previous driver
(9.18.13.4192), opened one of the large files (>20 000 rows) and all was back
to normal. So there is an easy solution, and I do not know if the
incompatibility would still exist with a later version of LibreOffice: I
preferred to change only one thing at a time to be sure of identifying the
source of the problem.

Actual Results:
update the video driver and you will presumably have the same problem

Expected Results:
N/A

Reproducible: Didn't try

All versions above 4.2.2. including the beta version 5.3 and above. This issue
