Yeah, comment 0 is a bit dated by now. :) SAL_STREAM should be rarely necessary, if at all (the two uses in sfx2/source/control/bindings.cxx could arguably be rewritten using string concatenation with + instead), and should never be necessary when generating useful exception messages in the context of this issue. Always use string concatenation for that (use OUString::number to put numbers into the message). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106249] New: F2 on Formula in Impress allows typing over formula
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106249 Bug ID: 106249 Summary: F2 on Formula in Impress allows typing over formula Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.2.5.1 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Impress Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: j...@curioussymbols.com Description: When I create a formula in Impress, I can type F2 and start typing text on top of the formula, as though it were a text box. This is strange behaviour and would certainly confuse a newbie, since they can't double-click the formula to edit/remove that overlaid text. I think it should be set to be impossible to edit the text on a formula object, in general. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert Formula 2. Add some formula text eg "E = m c^2" 3. Exit the formula 4. Highlight the formula and type F2 (edit) 5. Type 'xxx' 6. Type Escape. The formula is now a mess. 7. Type enter. You can edit the formula but not the 'xxx' 8. Type F2. You can edit the 'xxx' but not the formula. Actual Results: Nasty mess, best avoided! But the F2 keystroke is an easy habit eg after using Spreadsheets for a while. Expected Results: To me, 'enter' and F2 should both have the same effect when an object is a formula. I think there is no benefit at all in being able to edit the text on top of a Formula. Additionally, I am surprised that the OpenDocument specification allows this... That patch only modified what happened when the text was marked as focused. However, the regression fix for Japanese bug 100903 (commit 1c81af2c1814e8bd12701f85e09cebf5fe206647) was not placed inside of the "if focused" code, and so it applies to more situations than were broken by the first regression, thus causing new bug 105256. So, applying fix 100903 ONLY when focused solves both problems. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104701 --- Comment #15 from Bruce Byfield--- The conversion of hundreds of fonts is hardly trivial. It is time-consuming, and should be unnecessary. Yes, Type 1 is a legacy format, but this is hardly comparable to some of the earlier formats that have been long ago dropped. Type 1 fonts are still more than adequate for professional work, so there is no particular incentive to convert them to another format, especially when most graphic editors continue to support them. Personally, I am mostly unaffected, since I have been using only free-licensed fonts for the last few years, few of which are in Type 1 format. But I now have to either waste my time on conversions, or else retain an older copy of LibreOffice if I want continued access to legacy documents. Still, what irritates me is how unnecessary the change is. Did anyone think to ask graphic designers using LibreOffice? The decision seems arbitrary, based on the interest of developers, and not in the best interest of users. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I do not know if this choice has an historical reason, but I would really like to get rid of this limitation. F1 is just next to "esc". On a small notebook I often hit F1 instead of "esc" and every time the browser fires up with the help page. It would be really helpful to make F1 inactive. Similarly, F6 and F10 could be used for some formatting or commonly used functions. To have three out of twelve function keys unusable is a bit frustrating. Is there any tweak to remove this limitation? Or will the developers consider the possibility of removing this limitation in one of the forthcoming releases? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 69043] INSTALLATION: On MS-Windows 7, upgrade using ' LibreOffice_4.1.1_Win_x86.msi' systematically complains that it needs to update files which are opened by 'Microsoft Windo
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69043 --- Comment #13 from skierpage--- This happened when I installed 5.2.3.3 on a Windows 10 laptop, so it is not fixed. The installer warned me that (approximately) The application Microsoft Windows Search Filter Host was using one of the files and invited me to close it. That's a system service. I used Task Manager > Processes, clicked (v)More details to show additional processes, found Microsoft Windows Search Index, and right-clicked on it to end task. ([sic], that's what I have in my notes, install reported Search Filter Host but for some reason I killed Search Index.) I am not using any antivirus beyond Windows Defender, the default in Windows 10. To reproduce you would probably have to copy a lot of random files into your Documents folder before starting LibreOffice install; or in the control panel Indexing Options > Advanced, click [Rebuild] and then start the LibreOffice install. Even then that might not be sufficient to trigger the conflict if particular operations in the installer and Microsoft Windows Search service have to overlap. You might have to do something else in Task Manager such as run as System Administrator to see the Microsoft Windows Search service(s). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104701] PS Type 1 URW fonts missing in LibreOffice 5.3.0.0.beta1 and 5.3.0.0.beta2
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104701 --- Comment #14 from V Stuart Foote--- (In reply to Bruce Byfield from comment #13) > The decision to drop support for Type 1 fonts must have been made by someone > who isn't a designer. > ... > > Please reconsider this decision. Why? PS Type 1 font conversion is trivial, and most Adobe PS Type 1 was converted years ago and is distributed as TTF/OTF already. Little new PS Type 1 since the mid-90's with advent of TTF/OTF, industry moved on. Would expect any serious "designer" needing to retain library of archival 20+ year old Type 1 fonts would have done conversions some time ago if only for convenience of being compatible with workflows using TTF/OTF. As a cross-platform project, getting consistent HarfBuzz based layout in place (and working correctly with OpenGL) is a lot more important than legacy support for that corner case of users still dragging deprecated PS Type 1 fonts around. At this phase in LibreOffice development, no support in HarfBuzz means simply no support in LibreOffice--accordingly PS Type 1 is out. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98904 --- Comment #6 from Roland Baudin--- I found another method that works well to add custom bullets. Here is the method: 1. In an Impress document, position the cursor on the text where you want to get the custom bullet, then right click and select the menu item 'Bullets and Numbering' 2. In the Bullets and Numbering dialog, go to the 'Customize' tab and in the left column, click on the plan level that corresponds to your text 3. Select 'Graphics' for the Number item, and select 'From File' for the Graphics item 4. In the file dialog that opens, select the image file you want to use as a custom bullet 5. In the Width and Height fields, set the width and height you want for your bullet image 6. Click OK and your custom bullet should be shown at the beginning of the text, with the correct size You can do this in a slide master, for each plan level.
