[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151148] Finding KATAKANA which has voice consonant mark returns incorrect results.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151148 Ming Hua changed: What|Removed |Added Keywords||bibisected --- Comment #4 from Ming Hua --- It seems the reporter was using machine translation. I hope my description below is more concise and clear. The issue is rather straight forward: To find a Japanese string, the result shouldn't include the digits (0123...) after the search term. In 7.0 the behavior is normal, in 7.3 and 7.4 the search result (highlighted) includes the digits when it matches the full-width characters, for example searching "ガギグゲゴ" (U+30AC...) gets "ガギグゲゴ01234". Although I didn't do the bibisection myself, the result in comment #2 is consistent with the regression range I found in testing. So setting the keyword and adding Noel to CC. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151157] New: When odf saved to network location Read Error. Format error discovered in the file in sub-document styles.xml
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151157 Bug ID: 151157 Summary: When odf saved to network location Read Error. Format error discovered in the file in sub-document styles.xml Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.4.1.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ktrim...@aol.com Description: Decided to upgrade from 6.4 to 7.2 on LUbuntu 20.04. I edit a complicated document in MS Word 2000, document includes graphics, table of contents, complicated styles, not sure what else. If I open the doc file in LOWriter, edit, save, I can re-open it IF I have saved it somewhere on the local computer, but if I save it in a network location, I get the Format error discovered in styles.xml message box when I try to open the file again, even if I try to open the file with earlier versions of LO Writer on other machines, click OK and LOWriter disappears. The file does not appear to be recoverable after LO 7.4.1.2 saves it. If the file is ONLY text, it works OK to save to ODT format in the network location. I have tried several variations with no luck. Tried setting Tools-Options-LoadSave-General-ODF format version from 1.3 Extended to 1.2 Extended, 1.2 Extended (compatability mode) and a few others, same result. I am running MSWord2000 in Wine. I mapped a network folder on another computer to /home/kelly/.local/share/wineprefixes/WinXP/drive_c/Appraisl and then bookmarked that folder in pcmanfm-qt to make it easy to get to. I also have /home/kelly/.local/share/wineprefixes/WinXP/drive_c/A Work Area whcih is on my local drive, bookmarked the same way. I create or edit a doc in MSWord2000 on the local drive, save it, open in LOWriter, do a few edits not possible in Word2000 and export a PDF copy, and save the ODF version, then copy both files to the network location. If I have to make a major revision, I usually copy the word doc back to the local drive and edit in MSWOrd2000, save it, make additional edits to the word doc in LOWriter, save as odf, export a PDF copy, and move everything back to network location (I do it that way because a file save on a 20MB+ doc in Word2000 can take several minutes, but a fraction of a second on the local drive), but if the needed revision is very minor or trivial, I will simply open the ODT on the mapped network folder in LOWriter, make the edit, save directly to the mapped network folder (which usually takes a three or four seconds), export a PDF copy to sent out, and close the odt. The read error-sub-doc Styles.xml happens if I try to re-open that file. If I copy that file back to the local drive, I still get that error, so the error is written into the file. I did not get that error when I saved to the mapped network folder using the prior version, 6.4, only with the new 7.2. I've tried everything I can think of. It would appear that there has been some sort of bug introduced somewhere between versions 6.4 and 7.2. Additional information: The mapped network folder is on a second drive on a very old computer I am using as a server running an older version of Ubuntu, version 14 I think, with the root of that drive mapped to a directory in the server webroot which is on another drive which is mapped to the media directory of the boot drive. It only does this with certain report files that I created originally in MSWord 2000 and opened with LOWriter and saved with LOWriter to a network locaiton. It does not do this with all files, only certain larger more complex reports. It works using LO WRiter 6.4, but saving with 7.2 corrupts the file. Another interesting thing, if I open the word doc file in LO Writer, select all, delete, nothing left in the file, and try to save that empty file as an odt in the network folder, same thing, file read error when I try to open it again. Sorry to bother you with this, but we need to figure this out before we try to upgrade any other installations to any newer version. Thank you. Kelly Trimble, Branson, Missouri. Steps to Reproduce: 1.described above: map a network folder in the path of the C drive in wine 2.open or create a complicated word doc in MS Word 2000. 3.Open the Word 2000 doc with LOWriter. 4.make any minor edit, save the file as an ODT format on the network folder mapped somewhere in the path of the C drive in Wine. 5.close the file, exit LOWriter. 6. try to open the odt file on the network share with LOWriter Actual Results: message box 'Read Error. Format error discovered in the file in sub-document styles.xml' when you try to open the file saved to the network folder. Expected Results: Open the file for editing. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info:

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151122 --- Comment #11 from V Stuart Foote --- (In reply to Telesto from comment #10) > > How is this problem handled with other application? Like MSO? It is not, nor should it be. And that is the issue. There are already some fabulous programs for doing font selection based on its Unicode coverage. Point being these font management features do not belong in an office product bcz they are handled better either by os/DE provided apps--eg fontconfig and the fc- utilities or the ancient xfd or xfontsel, or by any number of GUI based character map utilities including the GNOME Character Map. If on Windows give Andrew West's BableMap a drive [1]. It has *ALL* the features that Eyal is asking for, but it is specialized software. In fact the dev spun off the font manager from his text editor BablePad bcz font management and analysis does not belong with the editor. And of course there are commercial products that provide similar function--on Windows High-Logic's MainType for example. =-ref-= [1] https://www.babelstone.co.uk/Software/BabelMap.html -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Therefore I suggest rename the "Enable very large spreadsheets (16m rows, 16384 cols)" option to just "Enable 16 millions rows" option, because today it enable/disable support for only 16 millions rows and doesn't touch columns amount at all. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 36943] Clicking 'Edit Points' button in Calc doesnt show 'Edit Points' toolbar
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=36943 --- Comment #55 from David --- I've used Draw for many years without difficulty but, after updating to 7.3.2.2, was completely lost because, although I could select 'Points' (or F8), the Edit Points Bar did not appear. After much frustration I resolved the problem as follows: Near the top-right-corner of the window there is 'x' that you can click on to close the current drawing. Immediately below the 'x' there is '>>'. If, after F8, you click on '>>', a pop up appears with the Edit Points symbols (move points, insert points, etc.). They aren't labelled, they are only symbols. I think a newcomer to LibreOffice would be completely lost and probably just have given up and thought LibreOffice no good. It shouldn't be so hard. When you select 'Points' or F8, the Edit Points symbols should immediately become visible somewhere so you know they are related to editing the object. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151154] New: Change category "draw" in Template Manager
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151154 Bug ID: 151154 Summary: Change category "draw" in Template Manager Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.3.5.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com Created attachment 182651 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=182651=edit Screenshot showing the problem In the Template Manager (File - Templates - Manage templates) we have the "Filter by Category" drop-down list. Opening this list we have one entry that is called "draw" whereas all others have full names. This even causes translation issues, since the "draw" string is untranslatable. See attached image for more details. The reason "draw" is used is because it is the name of the folder where the template is located, since we do not have a full Category name to map to this folder in: core/sfx2/inc/doctempl.hrc and in core/sfx2/source/doc/doctemplates.cxx I suggest we use the word "Flowcharts" for this category, since it only contain one template about BPMN flowcharts. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151153 Bug ID: 151153 Summary: Missing UI menu and frame content-- with Skia rendering (Vulkan or raster) Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.5.0.0 alpha0+ Master Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu This one is a little tenuous. On Windows builds for the last few TB77 daily bulds, with Windows in 'Dark' color theme, menus and dialogs are showing up empty. Menu is empty but the Help -> About action to launch the About dialog is easy since it is the last entry on the menu. About dialog comes up blank. Disabling the Skia rendering (uncheck both) and restart (or clear in the profile .xcu) gets install back to normal behavior with white fg on dark bg and renders the About dialog. So seems something in the Skia handling. =-testing-= Version: 7.5.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 9940a5dce79fe9dc3e6ff0302c9be8c7d1648f67 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: default; VCL: win Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: threaded but with Skia Vulkan & Skia raster With edit to .xcu and relaunch skia.log doesn't come up with Vulkan below log for this system from run of 20220914 buildid=7e8ba44fed9a20b5d226b9d3733b79a35acbbe00: RenderMethod: vulkan Vendor: 0x8086 Device: 0x8a52 API: 1.2.151 Driver: 0.402.661 DeviceType: integrated DeviceName: Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics Denylisted: no -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

It's not as if there was additional code for this, it's rather a limit that's been added (I'm still searching where in the code). If you really don't want the user choose a number more than one, we should disable the option then when "print to file" is selected. As it is, it's unexpected (and so buggy) to be able to choose n>1 with print to file and LO doesn't apply it. => let's ask UX eval to know what would be the more appropriate here: 1) disable the "number of copies" option when printing to file 2) let it enabled but apply it 3) Other idea? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127331] FORMATTING: Watermark should be on top of all page elements
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127331 --- Comment #12 from cson...@halmai.hu --- Bug 151151(In reply to Thomas Lendo from comment #0) > Workaround: > - Go to the Navigator. > - Open the 'Drawing objects' tree. > - Double-click at the first 'PowerPlusWaterMarkObject'. Now the watermark is > selected in the page. > - Go to menu Format > Wrap > In background and deselect this item. There > should be no check mark. > - Go to menu Format > Arrange > Bring to Front. > Now the watermark is in front of the pictures. This work-around doesn't work with the current version of LO (7.4.1.2) anymore. However, it brings a lot of bugs to the surface. I created Bug #151151 to show the ones I found (all together seven of them). All these issues could be avoided with a solution like @Heiko also proposed in Comment #9. The only difference is that I would implement the UI with a pair of radiobuttons rather than a checkbox because it makes it easier to compare the result of the two settings. Regarding the discussion whether the watermark should be in front of everything or behind everything, I think it should work like a "CONFIDENTIAL" stamp on documents. It should cover everything. I cannot see any advantage of the other way but seemingly there are others who can. That's why I believe it should be adjustable in a straightforward way. Note: I am opened to see a real world example why it can be useful. The wikipedia page of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watermark says stamp (overprint) is also a watermark: > The word is also used for digital practices that share similarities with > physical > watermarks. In one case, overprint on computer-printed output may be used to > identify > output from an unlicensed trial version of a program. In another instance, > identifying > codes can be encoded as a digital watermark for a music, video, picture, or > other file. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151151] New: Watermark z-index inconsistency
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151151 Bug ID: 151151 Summary: Watermark z-index inconsistency Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.4.0.3 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: cson...@halmai.hu Created attachment 182647 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=182647=edit shows the issues listed in the initial comment The precedence of the layers - of the text, - the shapes and - the watermark is inconsistent. Three years ago, @Thomas Lendo has proposed a work-around in Bug #127331 but it doesn't work anymore. Moreover, it highlights some other bugs. In order to see the problem, do these steps: - type a page of random text ("asdf asdf ..."") - Insert -> Shape -> Basic Shapes -> Rectangle -> Escape (Shape 1 appears in the Navigator, this is good) - Format -> Watermark -> Text=CONFIDENTIAL -> OK (the watermark is _behind_ the object, YUCK) (in the Navigator, 10 PowerPlusWatermarkObject appears (9 grey and 1 black): ???) - double-click on the black one (the top grey one gets selected instead of the black one: ???) - Format -> Arrange -> To Foreground -> Escape (the watermark comes in front of the shape: Hooray) - Insert -> Shape -> Basic Shapes -> Circle -> Escape (the circle comes _in_front_of_ the watemark: ???) - double-click on the black PowerPlusWatermarkObject in the navigator - toggling between "Format" -> "Arrange" -> "To Foreground" and "Format" -> "Arrange" -> "To Background" toggles between T-R-W-C and W-T-R-C, instead of T-R-C-W and W-T-R-C (letters mean Text, Watermark, Rectangle, Circle). I think it should move the Watermark to back and to the front. Note: I attach demo.odt with which you can see the problem in a slightly different way because double click the Drawing Object of the watermark in the Navigator does not work (???): - open demo.odt - click the circle - press Delete - click the rectangle - press Tab (this focuses the watermark object) - Format -> Arrange -> Bring to front -> Escape (To Background and To Foreground don't work) - Insert -> Shape -> Basic Shapes -> Circle -> Escape (You can see that the watermark is not behind everything, nor in front of everything. It is somewhere between the layers of the shapes.) - File -> Save (Z-inconsistency is still there) - File -> Reload (Z-inconsistency is confused ever further: watermark goes behind the layers of the shapes but remains in front of the text.) To summarise the issues: 1. the watermark should be either behind or in front of everything, not somewhere between them (Which one? I comment my opinion into Bug #127331.) 2. Why are there 9 grey "PowerPlusWatermarkObject" items beyond the one black? 3. Why do the grey ones not work and clicking the black one focuses a grey one? 4. Why does toggling between "To Foreground" and "To Background" not toggle the position of the watermark between behind and in front of everything? 5. Why can't I click the "PowerPlusWatermarkObject" after reloading the document? 6. Why does "To Foreground" not work after reloading the document if it did work beforehand? 7. Why is the z-index of the shapes versus that of the watermark reordered after save and reload? In a nutshell, instead of this fragile z-index handling, it would be much cleaner to have a pair of radiobuttons in the Format -> Watermark dialog: (o) as a stamp, ie. above everything else (o) as a background, ie. behind everything else -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
