Even better news: The issue is fixed (as far as my smoke-testing goes) in the
libreoffice-4-1 branch, built just now.

Now let's just hope it stays fixed for the upcoming release :-)

No offence intended, great job everyone!

It's not TOO bad digging after a long-standing annoying bug and finding it
already fixed for upcoming releases! :-D

I've also started to hit this a while ago and finally got around to properly
researching it and report it as a bug.

Since at this point an initial bug report already exists, I'd like to clarify
with some more information:

- For me, opening a file from WebDAV (using LibreOffice dialogs) works; saving
over this file using WebDAV also WORKS.
[When saving to Alfresco, with the Versionable aspect configured on the file,
the version number also correctly increases.]

- Saving to a *new* file on WebDAV (i.e. one that does not exist on the server
yet) does NOT work; I get the error messages described by Klaus Wölfel in the
original report.
- After trying to save to a new file using WebDAV and having received the error
messages, the document window gets stuck with the toolbars and most menu
options greyed out. Closing the window no longer works, LO needs to be
terminated(kill / Task Manager).
- After the window got stuck and LO had to be killed, the document needs to be
recovered using the document recovery wizard. Usually, this will recover a
version which might be missing quite a time of editing before the save was
attempted.

- Saving to a new file using WebDAV USED to work sometime in the past,
unfortunately I cannot really remember when this specific case last worked.
Might have been (way) before the OpenOffice.org / LibreOffice split.

- I get identical erroneous behaviour with LibreOffice 3.6.6.2 and 4.0.4.2
under Windows 7 x64, LibreOffice 3.6.6.2 (both the binary and the source
packages) under gentoo Linux x64.

- I get identical erroneous behaviour against both apache 2.2.24 mod_dav and
WebDAV access to Alfresco versions from 3.4d to 4.2c inclusive.

- I get identical erroneous behaviour both over https as well as using plain
http through an SSH tunnel (avoiding SSL for testing/tracing purposes).

- In the error case, no PUT is attempted on the WebDAV server. Instead, a
number of PROPFIND and HEAD requests are issued against the new file name,
which (understandably) all result in 404s; leading to the does not exist
message shown in the UI.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57268] : Cannot save new file on webdav

2013-06-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #7 from Joachim Breuer j.bre...@gmx-topmail.de ---
I've done some digging around this.

The good news is: The bug is gone when building from the current master branch.

The bug is - as described - reproducible in a local build of the
libreoffice-3-6-6 branch.

Let's just hope the relevant commit is merged into a release soon ;-)

Regarding the relevant commit: In the commit messages of the webdav stuff
itself nothing immediately caught my eye:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/ucb/source/ucp/webdav-neon

and

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/ucb/source/ucp/webdav

(the latter in the range of 2012-06-12 up to the rename on 2012-10-04).

But, the fix could very well be in the module calling the ucp webdav provider -
and I haven't dug this out yet.

Please comment here if you can shed some light on which the effictive commits
might be, so we can track the merge progress and know which versions might be
worth trying for a fix.

Forgot to mention: I made sure that my master build actually uses the
neon-based webdav provider, not the newly introduced serf-based one.

I confirm this bug.
Tried with Yandex.Disk https webdav on Ubuntu 12.04 and LibreOffice 4.0.1.
When attempting to save LO fires a warning about domain names not matching,
possible data interception attempt (I'm on Russian localization and not sure
about correct translation), offering to see Certificate detail, Continue or
Stop connection.
When Continue is selected, LO asks to enter username/password to webdav server
account.
Upon entering connection is interrupted error saving document and follwing
I/O error when saving document.

I can also confirm this bug.

I've tried with OwnCloud (and Ubuntu 12.10 + LibreOffice 4.0.1), https, and get
the same errors (Error while saving... does not exists) when tried to save into
a sub folder.
When I try to save into the OwnCloud main folder, LibreOffice crashes.

--- Comment #2 from Christopher Potter potte...@yahoo.com ---
This bug is a very longstanding and annoying bug (appends also with OpenOffice)
. Still there in LibreOffice 4.0.x/Win7

If you open an OO/LO document from the 'windows explorer' (network drive
mapping a webdav folder), a webdav lock is correctly acquired by OO/LO.

However, when you try to save the document, it seems that LO/OO tries to save
the document without passing the right protocol saying 'I wan't to save this
document and I am the owner of the lock'

Therefore it seems that OO/LO tries to do a standard save, and webdav refuse it
because the document is locked
