Though i'm in favour of its implementation, i dont see any libreoffice or linux
distribution devs bothering with implementing this as most linux users get
libreoffice from their distro and with the availability of snap, flatpak, and
appimage versions of libreoffice, users will be able to easy install/run
libreoffice without a tradition windows-like GUI installer.

Heiko's comment in bug 96705: "Regarding your ideas I suggest to give clues
about the interaction, e.g. the category list is a filter for the functions
list, or assigned and available shortcuts are linked lists (you move items from
one list to the other). Could be done by the placement of controls or by having
the interaction controls nearby where it has an impact.

Anyway, I agree that we need to improve the customization dialog. At least when
we get the enhanced toolbar or when the individualization of the sidebar will
be possible."

As there are more than one issue in this enhancement it should be broken up
into different bugs to focus on their individual issues.

The issue of themeing has been presented as a GSoC project and the newly
created bug should link to the wiki entry.
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/GSoC/Ideas#Application_Themes

The issue of import/export of workspaces (user configured UI arrangement)
should be an easyhack of extracting/inserting the necessary entries from/to the
user profile's registrymodifications.xcu. Likely something to add into the
options dialog, as we already have a request to backup and restore the entire
user profile (bug 64439).

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33232

I personally don't care about themeing or workspace to "resemble" another
application--but that could be fertile ground from "extension/template" mavens.

Rather--realize that UI customizations currently are transient, clear the
profile and they are gone. So having the ability to assert multiple
customizations (of Toolbar, Sidebar, module placement & state) as well .UI
based reconfiguration of dialogs/toolbars/sidebar decks, or even the new MUFFIN
experimental Notebook bar from a single transportable "UI package" is the crux
of this enhancement.

The ability to bundle ones configurations and export them as a personalized "UI
package" that could be applied on another installation would be a real step
forward.

Sure we can do similar now by copying our individual user profile and restoring
it to another system--but this takes it a step further and would allow UI
configuration to be done in a consistent (non-individualized) fashion and
applied to the profiles of other users. Apply the package--they get a set of
customizations.

I don't understand what you mean by theming... Creating a MSO 07 like skin
would probably infringe on design patents. the Notebookbar covers a similar UI
already.
And if you want familiarity for Windows users, then offer LO by default with
Notebookbar turned on with Breeze icon set.

Offering a way to allow knock-offs of Microsoft Office would just diminish the
uniqueness of LO. There's already plenty of chinese Microsoft Office clones.
Why lead LO in that direction, when the work of the design team is leading LO
into a unique direction that actually is working out great?

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement

In Tools > Customize > Toolbars, the option to set the status of the toolbar
isnt available. It should give drop down list access to the 'Visible' toolbar

be give access to the 'ContextSensitive' toolbar property.

This place of "Hyperlink" is part of a menu button list, which is labeled
"Links" as the generic term for Hyperlink, Footnote, Endnote, Bookmark, and
Cross-Reference. We would also need to change the title into "References", for
instance.

Hi Federico,

Let me document how you can find all occurrences of 'hyperlink' in the UI, it's
the detailed explanation of my comment 7.

First of all, I assume you have the source tree checked out.
1. make l10ntools.all
2. make translations
3. cd workdir/pot
4. grep -r msgid * | grep -v help | tr -d '_' | tr -d '~' | grep -i hyperlink
   a. you grep for en-US strings
   b. you ignore help for the time being
   c. you remove _ and ~ characters which are markers for access keys
   d. you grep for the word hyperlink

As of now, it gives 17 occurrences. One of them is not to be replaced, it is
the HYPERLINK spreadsheet function in formula module. You can open each pot
file, and find the hyperlink word. For example:
vi sw/uiconfig/swriter/ui.pot
You will find:
#. cEgTe
#: notebookbar_groups.ui
msgctxt ""
"notebookbar_groups.ui\n"
"hyperlink\n"
"label\n"
"string.text"
msgid "Hyperlink"
msgstr ""
Now you know, that you have to replace this string in
sw/uiconfig/swriter/ui/notebookbar_groups.ui.

If you have time, you can go for the help, too. You will get 211 hits in
helpcontent2 and swext (providing that you configured LibreOffice building
--with-help, and you have the helpcontent2 submodule).
grep -r msgid * | grep help | tr -d '_' | tr -d '~' | grep -i hyperlink
