Subject: Re: 100ct to 266 speed?

Neil, thanks for the information.
Indeed my L30 has been put to hibernate a couple of times because of the
temperature (I guess), but only when using a PCMCIA modem which gets very
hot, thus I don't really know if it's because of an overclocking or because
of the modem.
I finally managed to install Sandra it on my L30, but it asks me for a file:
WS2_32.DLL, which I can't foni on microsoft's site. Is there anybody who has
it and could sent it to me, telling me where it should be pasted?

Thanks in advance,

Miguel

Miguel,

Can't help you with the 30 upgrade...but regarding the overclocking, you
could try a free product called SiSoft Sandra which will tell you more than
you ever wanted to know about the insides of your computer. According to
its
specs it works all the way down to slow 386's so you should have no
problems
running it. Not everything is there in the free version, but what it
doesn't
have you don't need. Just check the processor speed and see if it's what
you
expect.

Alternatively, does it go into over-temperature shutdown if it's working
hard? If it does, it's probably clocked...

I *had* sandra on this machine but it looks like the company robots have
eaten it...certainly I don't find that dll now. I think I have it at home,
if so, I'll post it.

Try running AMNRefridgerator (link on my site) to help keep the L30 cool.
Extends battery life as well. For Windows 95/98/ME only. (Linux and Win NT/2K
have it built in)

I finally managed to install Sandra it on my L30, but it asks me for a file:

http://google.yahoo.com/bin/query?p=ws2_32.dllhc=0hs=0
or a quick search of yahoo will bring up many sites with this file.

-Does anybody know how to overclock an L30 (please take into account that I
can't read japanese, at most, I read English, and poorly!)

-How can you know if a computer is overclocked?

Cheers,

Nope. It's on the bottom side of the MB, so that means taking the bottom off
the Libretto. My site has the exploded parts diagram so you can see how the
Libretto components are put together.

As for the CPU speed, any program that reports the CPU speed will generally
tell you. eg. CPUIDLE will tell you.

runs at 166 MMX, but I am seeing a handful eBay auctions selling 100ct

My site for overclocking instructions, links, and information.

About 90% of people who attempt the overclock are successful, and the
Librettos run at 266Mhz forever w/o problems. The other unlucky 10% must
underclock or reverse the procedure.

David,

The pic at http://www.silverace.com/libretto/L100oc.jpg is a little unclear.
Do you ONLY have to connect BF2 to the spot above for 200Mhz, no other
changes?
For 266, do you have to do the 233 steps (in red) plus connect BF0 to RM1?

Is this section of the MB easily accessible once the keyboard is off, or do
you have to disassemble the case?
