[linrad] Re: Testing MAP65 v0.8
Hello Rick, can you point me to some specific models for managed switches, so I can read up ? Thanks Stan,W1LE Unfortunately neither of the switches you tested with had the horsepower (i.e. were managed switches) to control the multicast traffic, though they will segment the unicast traffic. A managed switch (capable of IGMP snooping) would handle the multicast traffic also and eliminate the swamping of machine A. # This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list . [linrad] Re: Beta Testing of MAP65
Hello Joe, It would be interesting to me, to hear the discussion of the LINRAD/MAP65 implementation and evolution. Any help I can get so I do not bury myself in a deep hole, again, would be helpful. A fiber optic LAN (100 base) is in progress and I expect the master/slave to work well under UDP. WSJT with meteor scatter was the tool that helped me achieve the 100 confirmed grids on 2M and 50 grids on 222 MHz for VUCC. [linrad] Re: WLR2-25 on a slave computer
Hello Leif, My comments are added Maybe you could try some other things first: 1) Start the slave first. It should give the message about waiting for RAW16 input that you reported in the first mail. Then start the master and see what happens. 2 computers enabled on the LAN. Computer1 is the HP pavilion, 2 Ghz Celeron 256 MBRAM Computer2 is a Shuttle, 3 GHz Pent4, 1 GB RAM. I had to loan out the ASUS Vintage for a few days. Both with windows XP sp2. Computer1 is the MASTER, computer2 is the SLAVE Results: Start the SLAVE first, all ok, listening. Start MASTER, fatal error report. stop both programs running. Start MASTER, all ok, then start SLAVE, fatal error report. If I disable the LAN,the MASTER starts OK, but when starting the SLAVE, internal error: error in attempt to use set socket() to request that the kernel joins a multicast group. Starting only the SLAVE computer get the same error message. Sounds orderly to me, LAN must be enabled. More testing tomorrow. The windows fatal error report points me to a file: c:\documen~1\3\locals~1\temp\5d40_appcompat.txt Which could not be found under MY COMPUTER but under the command prompt, the directories could be found but not the report file. ? [linrad] Re: Linrad-02.26
Hello Leif and the Net: With WLR2-26 on a standalone computer, this time a shuttle, 3 Ghz Pent4, 1 GB RAM, delta44 With 2 folders, one set up for the WLR2-26 as a MASTER, the other folder WLR2-26 setup as a SLAVE. 2 Icons on the main screen for ease of starting. All using common group and port numbers, RAW16 bit data Master is set up and operation is orderly by itself, close it out. Setup the slave, it listens to the network. Close it out. Start up the MASTER, and start up the SLAVE. memory error in linrad, fft1, fft2, close out both. Start up SLAVE, it listens to the network, Then start up the MASTER, getting the memory error in linrad. I could not duplicate the window that said the memory error was in linrad and fft1, fft2. failures are repeatable. Sorry I broke it... More to come with testing of WLR2-25. Stan, W1LE Leif Asbrink wrote: Hello all, Linrad-02.26 is now available for download. All problems with Microsoft Windows are solved (except that CPU load computation does not work under Windows 98) It is possible that 02-26 will work with the SDR-IQ. I do not have one so I can not check myself. I will be very interested in a report from someone who can make a test. 73 Leif / SM5BSZ # This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list . [linrad] WLR2-25 on a slave computer
Hello The Net, I am sustaining progress, but I am not home yet. Tried the ethereal monitoring software on both the master and slave computers. Results were identical and showed the right group # and ports. Streaming UDP data at about 12 packets /second. I updated to the latest LAN drivers and I got the WLR2-25 slave to recognize the data. When I activate the "A" weak signal process, it encounters an error and wants to shut down. The error signature: mod name ntdll.dll, mod ver 5.1.2600.2180 offset 1010 I can send the detailed error report file, but I will need a direct e-mail address since NO attachments are allowed on this list. any pointers ? [linrad] WLR2-25 as a networked Slave
Hello The Net: Thanks to Leif and Pierre for your critique and helping me achieve progress. The WLR2-25 as a networked master is working and is streaming data over the local area network at about 12-15 packets a second. The router is blinking, indicating streamed data. The LAN has worked in the past. On the networked slave computer with WLR2-25, the motherboard ethernet connection is also blinking at the same rate indicating data is getting to the slave computer. However, no data is being received by WLR2-25 in "R" mode with #10 enabled in N setup. It just sits there and says: listening for RAW16 rx input Group 239.255.0.0 port 50050 Any ideas on how to troubleshoot the data between the ethernet port and WLR2-25 ? Somehow there is a gap in the routing of data in the ASUS Vintage computer under Win XP sp2. [linrad] [Fwd: WLR2-25 on the network]
original had a screen grab so I deleted it. Hello The Net: Trying to get a master and a slave computer working on a simple network. LinRad receive only. (NO TX at this time). Master computer is at the receiver in the shack, Win XP sp2 HP Pavilion, 100 base network activated, 2 GHz Celeron, 256MB RAM Start WLR2-25 and set N, network parameters to: 1, base port = 50050 2, send address = 239.255.0.0 3. receive address = 239.255.0.0 4. send raw data in 16 bit format ON (port 50050) (changes color to yellow ! ) 5 thru 10 OFF exit network setup and save with a W toggle R for network input (does this enable RAW16 data input into the network ?? ) go to mode A for weak signals and verify it is working with a test tone. All OK, but I see NO network activity, I would expect to see streaming data in one direction, at least. Slave computer in the auxiliary shack, Win XP sp2 ASUS 2.4 Ghz Pent4, 1 GB RAM, 100 base network activated start WLR2-25 and set N parameters to: 1. base port = 50050 2. send address = 239.255.0.0 3. receive address = 239.255.0.0 4 thru 9 all set to OFF 10, RX input from network ON raw data 16 bit exit network setupsave N setup with a W At the WLR2-25 startup page, toggle T for NETSEND (as indicated in the upper left in red.) Mode A for weak signals, I get displayed: listening to network for RAW16 RX input Group 239.255.0.0, port 50050 When I try to X for exit, I get internal error 1269 [1269] waiting for master was interrupted from keyboard press any key pressing any key dumps me out of Linrad My setup does NOT work. What do I need to change ? How do I verify network activity to be sure I am streaming data from the master to the slave ? Never an indication data is streaming at the master or the slave. On the main WLR2-25 screen, R = toggle network input, I enable this to extract RAW16 data off of the network, into the Linrad (slave) application ? The attached file grab01 is the master computer mode A (weak signals) detailed setup. deleted, server could only accept text no .jpg attachments. I appreciate your help. [linrad] Watzo1-01 questions
Hello, I changed the WRL2-25 output to another soundcard, other than the delta 44 and WLR2-25 now starts up and runs OK. Watzo1-01 has a peculiarity. When I start from a fresh down load without a par_ui setup file: I enter a S for setup, font scale (1 to 5): I select 3 as I had with WLR2-25 percentage of screen width (33 to 98): I chose 95 network base port (5 to 65000): I chose 50005 [239.255.0.00] new last byte (0 to 15): I chose 0 (and got 239.255.0.0) What should be the criteria to select ? I guess that it must exactly match the WLR2-25 program in use. percentage screen height to use (25 to 92): I chose 92 max scratch file in power of two (26 to 36): I chose 36 What should be the criteria to select a number, memory size ? waterfall lines limitation (50 and above): I chose 50 I save this data and a par_ui setup file is created. If I want to go back and change this setup file because I am now using a different address like 235.255.0.0 vs. what I set up in WLR2-25 as 235.255.0.10 There is no opportunity to change unless I get out of watzo and delete the par_ui set up file. and create a new par_ui file with a new setup. Possibly a function key to enable a new set up is needed. If I goofed up and set up the network base port (5 thru 65000) with the wrong number, I can never change it, even with a new par_ui setup file. It seems to be set for life... I am using a simple network with a DSL modem, to a 4 port router, to 2 computers, and a network printer. Computers are win XP on a 100 base wired network. Must WLR2-25 be started on the "front end" (master) computer, enable network RX, then startup watzo1-01 on the second computer to receive the data ? Do I also need to start up WLR2-25 on the second (slave) computer ? Is watzo simply the comms link between 2 each WLR2-25 applications ? Longer term objective is to extend the network on ethernet fiber optic transceivers and remotely locate the RX system outside near the planned antennas. Hello Lief, Thanks for the evolutionary software. I am having trouble getting WLR2-25 started, after I use the default settings The screen is normal, I just can not activate it. Delta-44 is selected, for in and out. WLR2-24 starts up nicely with a left mouse button click. [linrad] Re: multiple instances of Linrad
Hello Roger, You are having t much fun Some wideband monitoring systems give a panoramic display of multiple octave bands thru 40 + GHz and will allow selection of one of those bands for further processing. With windows multitasking, multiple ham bands can be monitored around the calling freqs and then the band of interest can be selected for further processing. Like noise blanking or zeroing in on one specific signal of interest. Consider the other multichannel M audio PCI cards like the 6-6 or the 10-10.
