I tested Suse 7.2, Red Hat 7 and Debian 3.01 under VM/ESA 2.4.0 using G3
(MP2003),
G4 (9672RB5 and RY5) and G5(MP3000) without any problem. Suse seens to
be more
friendly, but if you know Linux, I recomend Debian. You have no company
asking $$$ to
you as maintenance fee.

Yes, you can load 2.4 Kernel without problems.
I tested 2.4 in a mp2000 225 some months ago.

I4m downloaded tape files (initrd, kernel and parm) from Debian site and
recorded
them in a 3490 cartdrige.
I ipled tape but get in 9672 HMC Hardware Messages the following:

I4m new to Linux world so some stupid questions could arise!
1 - I downloaded Suse 7.0 - 2.4.7 Kernel Level.- CD1 and CD2
2 - IPLed from VM/ESA RDR as described in manuals.
3 - As IPL completed, I run INSMOD DASD DASD=200-201
4 - 200 was choose as swap device - no problem.
5 - 201 was choose
Check www.bustech.com for the new product called NAS.
