I agree, It's a simple matter to install software VIA Snyaptic
On another note, I think Synaptic should appear is the launcher next
to the main menu, I always find myself placing it there, I hate going
to "find" it in the admin menu...

I agree,
Keep it small and lean, and apt-get anything you need.
The one question I think needs to be answered is " Are we making a
distro for newbies?"
If we are then you will need a bunch of standard default apps... If
not, which I think in my personal experience with Linux and LXDE, this

Wow,
I just went through the list if apps, Thats a lot of stuff...
Personally, I think it should be lighter than this, but I guess thats
what I get for missing the IRC meeting :)
Will we have a chance to vote on these things? or do the IRC meetings
denote final say?

Just for fun...
I dug out an old Celeron 366 laptop with 128 Mb Ram.
I tried to load u-light on it... I couldn't even get mini-ubuntu to
load the CLI.
However, Vector Linux seems to be installing fine on it.
If we want to support hardware this old(low tech) we will need to run
a frame buffer.

Firefox is a browser that people "expect" to see on a Linux
distribution. I know the footprint is a little larger on it, but I
think we should stick with the more comfortable/familiar choice in
this situation.
Put on FF, if someone wants to change it later, let them do it.

I think this is one of those time when we are all going to agree to disagree...
Julien, if we go with Midori, can we put a script or shortcut on the
desktop that will install FF?
Personally I think this would fit the bill, have a lite browser, but
give users who don't know very much a "simple" wa

This may have already been discussed but I don't remember and I can't
find it in the threads I have kept.
Are we going to have any OSD?
I have gotten quite used to this in Gnome, especially with things like
volume control and system notifications, im's etc etc.

Thanks PCMan,
Julien, can we roll a new Alpha with pcmanfm2 as the primary?
Also, I have been doing a lot of testing of other LXDE distro and I
think we are in good shape, we appear to be faster and have a good
application set. The only one that has made me envious was PCLOS LXDE
which someone re

I also noticed that when you open pcman and click on the cd-rom icon,
it simply closes. since I am on the live CD, There is a pretty good
chance that there is a CD in the drive, will install and check it with
a non-mounted CD as well.
