I have to admit, I'm not thrilled with this CD and I've given it several listenings to try to get it, given the great stature of the performer. There is a huge amount of reverb, to the point where I would not have been able to tell it's gut strung, and can barely listen to it. There

Interesting. On my 7-course lute, the octave on the fifth course was way too bright and prominent. Trying a number of different diameters did not solve the problem. So, I finally opted for a plain gut unison to go with the gimped string that I already had. They turn out to balance very nicely
