Dear collectors
I have to compare the different versions of the Vallet prints (except Regia
Pietas). If somebody has films or copies of original books (not the
STIMU-facsimile), please contact me directly.

I tried to show the guitar pupils at my music school what a lute is,
so after a short explanation I played a few pieces at the pupil's
concert. During Slaep Soete Slaep (Sleep Sweet Sleep) by Vallet they
started coughing in stead of dozing of. Something I did? Anyway, a

That is indeed, interesting, I thought it was the contrary. I
thought the recordings were made following the concerts, or
occasionally during the concerts. I did not realize, at all, that the
recording was made before the performer began his concerts.

I think there is a spacial communication you get hearing the music
live that will never be there on the CD. It includes the ability to
watch the performer's body language and their opportunity to feel the

Dear All,
I was wondering if anyone has a copy of Vallet's version of the Earl of
Essex Galliard which they could send to me. I can't find it online in any
of the usual places and was hoping that someone out there might have an
e-mailable version. Fronimo, Django, PDF, Tab, scans - all welcome!
Has anyone translated into English the Petit discours at the
beginning of Vallet's Le Secret des Muses?
Thanks,

I just came across a new CD containing music by Nicolaes Vallet from his 'Le
secret des muses'. The music is played by Nigel North, who will certainly
have become more familiar with dutch lute music nowadays as succesor of
Toyohikoh Satoh at the dutch conservatory at the hague in the netherlands
Can anyone tell me if the tenuto lines in the tab in Le Secret Des
Muses published by Editions du Centre National are editorial? If
original, are they quite unambiguous in the original copy?
TIA
