Hello. I'm not very familiar with LyX and the way it works, But I understand 1.1.x is a complete rewrite of the kernel and a "gui independent" thingie, can't you just make it have more portable behavior? A good example is Mozilla, which AFAIK was very easy to port to BeOS and OS/2, so if LyX is

Well, AFAIK no, but recently I knew of something that could be useful. There is a library called MSWordView (http://www.gnu.org/~caolan/docs/MSWordView.html) that can import binary office97 word files. The Abi guys (http//www.abisource.com) use it to import M$ Word into AbiWord so I think it
