This has no doubt been thrashed out by developers before, but is there any reason why the config script can't just call kpsewhich for each class to see if it's found. Right now, a fancy latex file is run to do the tex-class detection and report writing. configure.py simply runs it. Because this

And here it is conclusion: The configure.py script does not work correctly. My guess is that the case where a class is missing and MikTex is configured to download it, but it fails to do so, is not correctly treated, or not treated at all, by the script. configure.py works OK on all

Thanks or your help. Miktex has the option to install on the fly disconnected. I unistalled Lyx and started again, but without re-installing miktex. Like magic it started to work! He did instal a package, which he asked me for concerning miktex. All the best Joao

Yes. Automatic updates are OFF. But the first time i tryed it it was still giving me problems. It was then that i uninstalled lyx and installed it again with the miktex i had before and it worked. everything is way...ok now. :) Joao _ phone

This has no doubt been thrashed out by developers before, but is there any reason why the config script can't just call kpsewhich for each class to see if it's found. Right now, a fancy latex file is run to do the tex-class detection and report writing. configure.py simply runs it. Because this
