Wrong tool. To outline LyX documents you need VimOutliner (http://www.vimoutliner.net). Much faster outlining, much more useful outlining. Then, when your outline is done, you can convert it to LyX. Attached is the conversion tool I use, along with a sample level-environment- table file. It
