Following Richard's and Erez's suggestions I set out to chop both the lyx file and the .bib file in smaller and smaller pieces to isolate the error. Well, I solved the problem, but I am none the wiser. Here is what I did: 1. remove the batch of citations added to the bibtex file since the last
