Enumerated Lists / Comments
Hello, I have LyX 1.1.6Fix2 installed on my Linux Mandrake 7.2 system (thanks toGerman Poo C. for his RPM), and noticed a behavior that is slightly odd, IMO. A similar behavior has been mentioned recently, but this one surprised me a little bit... I was working in an enumerated list, and needed to insert a place mark where I stopped editing. So, below the item that I had just finished, I inserted a comment paragraph. I noticed that the numbering in my enumerated list was reset by this addition. I am slightly surprised by this... I didn't think that a comment would reset the numbering for the list. Is this a glitch? Should it be this way? It's not really going to affect me in the long run -- the comment will be removed when I am done editing. However, it does make things a little odd if I needed to produce a copy while I was in the middle of editing because the re-numbering does show up in the output. Ps Export pb
Hello, Sorry for the delay in the answer but, I've found the problem. In my document, I have a tabular (1 column and 3 rows) and in the first cell, I have copied an other tabular(1 column and 3 rows). It works fine within Lyx (and without any warnings). But, when I try to export to ps, the latex process doesn't want to stop because of a pb with this tabular. If I remove this "ugly" construction, it works fine. Your sincerely, YC

tables larger that margins
hi! I need to put in my documents some tables, which are larger that the paper's margin. Lyx's default policy is, as far as I know, to keep the table aligned with the left margin, whereas the very right part of table goes outside the right margin: --- || ||<--- right margin || || |- || ||<---my table (entirely contained in the paper, although ouf of margins) || I would know if it's possible to put the large table in a "justified" way, going out of left and right margin. thanks, Giorgio
LyX 1.1.6fix2 for Win32 hangs on Cygwin/XFree86
Hello, I downloaded and installed LyX 1.1.6fix2 for Win32 after scraping 1.1.6fix1 according to the installation instructions. I'm trying to use Cygwin/XFree86 4.1.0 as X server. This combination worked with 1.1.6fix1 and XFree86 4.0.3. This time, however, LyX freezes the entire X server or, in less serious cases, makes the cursor disappear in XFree86. Has anyone else seen this? Or more importantly; can something be done about it? - IT

Also, note that this will make ALL enumerate lists in the document use the same counter, so if you want an enumerate to start from 1 again, put \setcounter{mySaveCounter}{0} in front of it (in latex mode).

I create a letter template in LyX, putting in things like: Y Z Dear XX, I format the leter and preview it, making sure I like the result. Then I export the address database into a flat file (one record per line). My perl script then reads each line, doing something like: my $num = 0; while () { <> system("lyx --export ps temp_letter.lyx"); $num++; rename("temp_letter.ps", "letter_".$num.".lyx"); } Afterwards, I just print letter_1.ps, letter_2.ps, etc. This works because the lyx file is a simple ASCII file. ---Kayvan -- Kayvan A.
