Two formatting issues with koma-script book
I'm using koma-script for a book and need help with two issues I can't figure out. It's a 2-sided document with "headings" Page Style. (1) The first problem is that the headings for sections/"high-level" environments that start on odd-numbered pages show up on empty even-numbered pages that follow. I'd like them not to appear on those empty pages, and if possible to appear on the odd-numbered page where the section begins. For example, if I put in a Table of Contents labeled "Contents" and it all fits on one page, the heading "Contents" appears on the next page and nothing appears in the header on the TOC page. (2) The second problem I'm having is that the Figures in chapters don't number like the equations. The equations happily begin with the Chapter number plus ".[equation_number]", but the Figures in each chapter are just numbered 1, 2, 3, ... Can I make the Figure numbers the same as the equation numbering? For completeness, I have the following in my Preamble now to get integer chapter and Figure numbering (but I'm not sure this is right): \setcounter{chapter}{1} \makeatletter [EMAIL PROTECTED]@figure} [EMAIL PROTECTED]@table} \makeatother Dave - David Hewitt Virginia Institute of Marine Science http://www.vims.edu/fish/students/dhewitt/ -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Two-formatting-issues-with-koma-script-book-tp15239861p15239861.html Sent from the LyX - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

There was a bug in MiKTeX that no package could be installed. This should now be fixed. To get LyX working, open an internet connection and the reconfigure LyX (menu Tools -> Reconfigure). Then the missing LateX-packages will be installed (so reconfiguring LyX could in this case need some time). regards Uwe

User's Guide doesn't work
Hi, I am trying to view the user's guide in version 1.5.3 on windows. When I try to view it using any method (dvi, pdf, ps) it says: LaTeX Error: File `floatflt.sty' not found. Showing more details for that error it says: \usepackage {varioref} *** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes) I tried installing that package using MiKTeX 2.7 package browser, but this package is not there. So I found it on CTAN and followed the directions for unpacking the floatflt.sty file. I copied the floatflt.sty file into a directory at C:/Program Files/MiKTeX 2.7/tex/latex/floatflt/floatflt.sty Then I reloaded LyX and verified that it could find that style by going to the menu Tools->TeX Information and showing the "Latex Styles" from the dropdown. Yep, LyX sees the new style file. But I still get the same error. I also ran Reconfigure (and restarted lyx) which seemed to download a bunch of packages, but didn't help. Any suggestions? This has taken me all day :). Maybe a better question is why does the User Guide use this package when MiKTeX has a much newer package called float? THanks for any help, -Tom

I usually make the temp directory ( you can change it in the preferences) someplace close to where the actual document is.Copy and PAste the .pdf's you want to include into the temp directory. Then you should be able to produce output. Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your home page. http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs

I don't know if this is the source of your problem, but I always omit the .pdf extension. So: \includepdf[pages=1-11]{filename}
problem with pdfpages
Hello I am trying to include a pdf file in a LyX document. I have the TeX-Live package installed in my computer. If I understand correctly, it includes pdfpages. I put the phrase "\usepackage{pdfpages}" in the LateX preamble for the document. Afterwards, I wrote in ERT: \includepdf[pages=1-11]{filename.pdf} The filename.pdf is saved in the same folder as the LyX document. Now, when I try to view the document as dvi, I get the error message: Package pdfpages Error:You produce DVI output but pdf output Undefined control sequence. Missing $ inserted Extra }, or forgotten $. Missing $ inserted. When I try to produce a pdf output, I get the error message: LyX: Cannot view file File does not exist: /tmp/lyx_tmpdir21859Tr9iSI/lyx_tmpbuf0/newfile.pdf What is wrong ? Is there an easy way to insert the pdf file into the LyX document ? Please, try to give a simple and specific answer as I am new to LyX, as well as to LaTeX . I use Ubuntu Feisty (quite new to linux as well). Thanks Eli

Help with List of Figures
Hi, I am trying to create a list-of-figures page for a multi-part report. However, when I insert a 'List of Figures' the entire figure caption is being displayed on the list-of-figures page. Re: Paragraph layout dialog missing spacing section in lyx 1.5
So I was hoping for a better solution, preferrably the solution that used to exist in the paragraph layout dialog. One possibility would be to define a new Layout style that includes a leading space. Then you could mark and change a number of paragraphs the old way (nearly, as you would use the Layouts drop-down box instead of the Edit>Paragraph dialogue). That would be the LyX way: Semantic markup. Doing this kind of thing will be a lot easier in 1.6. rh

Indeed, as the vertical space is treated as a normal sign now which requires a new way of thinking... OTOH, it is far easier to remove a vertical space now - BS or Del at the right place. > I was looking for a solution where I could select several paragraphs > and adjust only those, or insert the space at several places at once. > If I try that with the current solution, the spacing replaces the text > - naturally. You can easily copy and paste the Vertical Space, which should be nearly as simply as marking several paragraphs (and simpler if you want to apply the spacing to several non-consecutive paragraphs). > So I was hoping for a better solution, preferrably the solution that > used to exist in the paragraph layout dialog. I was looking for a solution where I could select several paragraphs and adjust only those, or insert the space at several places at once. If I try that with the current solution, the spacing replaces the text - naturally. So I was hoping for a better solution, preferrably the solution that used to exist in the paragraph layout dialog.
