Marcelo LOL, I ask and I answer. Discovered(at least I think) there is an option where you chose *Advanced Placement Options - Here Definitely. Alternatively, insert a "clear page" (Insert -> Formatting -> Clear Page). This will dump all remaining floats to the output. This is always a good idea prior to starting a new chapter. James

Re: How to typeset units
Dan Phan schrieb: As far as I know, the proper way to typeset values and dimensions is to use units package. You don't need this package, using this ore not is your choice. The Math manual, that you find in LyX's Help menu, tells you at the end of sec. 8.1 how units are typeset. When you want to write 1 mm, you use: \unit[1]{mm}. In Lyx, if I select that expression and press Ctrl+M to convert it to a formula, I works perfectly. But if I start math mode first by pressing Ctrl+M and type \unit[... it does not seem to work. See appendix A of the Math manual. regards Uwe

Re: add "lyx-users" to message Subject?
Murray Eisenberg wrote: I don't want to direct these messages about lyx to some special folder (I can do that later if I wish). I just want to be able to tell at a glance from the Subject showing in Thunderbird that the message is for the lyx-users group. I read the group (in Thunderbird) using the GMANE news feed, so what I'm about to suggest is something that should work, but not something I've tested. You can add a tag named "LyX" (or whatever to the list of T-bird tags, and assign it a distinctive color. Then add a filter that looks for the mail lists sender address, or some other unambiguous header, and tags the message with the "LyX" tag. Instead of a flag in the subject line, you'll see by the color that it's a from the user list. /Paul

Bruh, There are ways of doing this in LyX, using ERT for example, but if the frontmatter requirements are very specific the simplest solution is to create these front pages separately (in LaTeX, for example, or perhaps a DTP program such as Scribus) and merge the two PDF files using Pdftk (http://www.accesspdf.com/pdftk). -- Les ~~ Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. Adrian Diaz wrote: Hi friends of Lyx Do you knonw how to set up the line width of tables, the types of lines, colors of line etc in Lyx?. Could you send some examples?. Use the menu "Help->Embedded Objects" in LyX to get some examples of this. I would like to know about of titles of section, subsection etc. How can i set up in lyx that the titles do not appear on the top at the right corner when the lyx makes a copy in PDF?. I am writting my thesis with class document book(more font sizes). Use the menu "Document->Settings->Page style". The dialog box has a dropdown list for page styles. It defaults to "standard", which gives you the top texts you don't want. Select "plain" to get only the page number, select "empty" to get nothing extra at all. Helge Hafting

Probably that developers around here tend to dislike these tags. Many mail readers are stupid enough to produce subject lines like [LyX] Re: [LyX] Re: [LyX] add "lyx-users" to message Subject? after a few exchanges, and this makes subject lines basically useless.
