It most certainly is a font issue. Could you try if this happens 

with every math formula, 
only with sub- and superscripts, 
maybe with formulae in headings or otherwise scaled?

Does the problem go away if you choose a different font set?

Could you be more specific about your font setup?

Problem despite trying the insert URL option in lyx or the above putting the 
url as ERT i have not been able to get it to break appropriately and the url 
goes beyond the text margins. I have  tried the suggestion to put it as 
\href{url}{...} as well

I would appreciate any help with this

I'm currently too busy to fix it right now. Having a bug report assures that it won't be forgotten 
and that every developer can fix this.


Besides this the layout is named "svglobal3.layout" so I think that the "global" was inserted 
purposely. Why do you think this is wrong? Is there anything in the svjour documentation?

so getting things working with ClassicThesis is harder than I thought.

I've resolved most of the conflicts between the classicthesis.sty,  
preamble.sty and the preable that you gave in your example. (like you  
said, those were related to natbib, hyperref, backref). So I feel I'm  
90% there! However, as soon as I add the code below to my  
ClassicThesis.lyx preamble, things fail.


But I cannot make sense of the errors, nor locate where they are  
coming from (is there any way to get more verbose error messages from  
lyx?). What follows is the first error out of many:

Error: "You can't use '\spacefactor' in vertical mode."
Description: " \@
ifundefined{showcaptionsetup}{}{%
Sorry, but I'm not programmed to handle this case;
I'll just pretend that you didn't ask for it.

Classic Thesis and LyX

Hello,

I'm trying to get Nick Mariette's port of André Miede's Classic Thesis 
style for LyX to work. I'm talking about this:

I'm getting several "Math formula deleted: Insufficient symbol fonts." 
errors every time I try to run pdflatex. The description of the error is:

the \fontdimen values needed in math symbol fonts."


I get this error with as simple a file as the one I am attaching 
(test.lyx), using report (KOMA-Script) as class, and adding in the 
preamble:  \usepackage{preamble}


I also attach Mariette's preamble.sty, so that you can easily replicate 
the problem.



After some googling I've come to think that this has to do with my

I think it is useful, but I think you'll see the same crashing
behaviour.

The first thing you might try is to adapt the following code:

If you undefine HAVE_FORK (or just always return -1), you can see
whether (all) crashes disappear. If so, we have at least a workaround. 

Everything should still work, but you might be interrupted in your
typing when LyX saves the autosave file using the same thread.

For me it seems Apple has changed a security policy about calling
fork(). I cant find any article about that on Google yet.

Now I found time to install Snow Leopard on my Mac.
I can confirm the behaviour reported here:

Lyx (1.6.3) starts up and as long as I just watch my document it keeps  
running without any errors.
When I type something and wait for the autosave to come into action, a  
pop up window appears with an error message that LyX crashed.
However if I simply click on ignore, I can work with my LyX document,  
as LyX itself still is running. So it might only be some subprocess  
which is crashed.
I can save changes via the save button. Although after pressing the  
button the pop up telling my that LyX crashed appears again.
When I insert a table, the mentioned popup window appears, too. So it  
seems that as soon as you start something which calls up a new menubar  
this process crashes, too.


All these crashes seem to have to with the fork() without exit() thing  
reported on trac, see the crashlog-excerpts below.


So is it useful if I try to compile Lyx on my own on 10.6? Or would  
this end up in the same crashing behaviour?
There are some changes/workarounds to do in the source code first,  
right?

I created a generic Lyx file, typed a bunch of stuff and let it

We are a bit short on Mac developers, so I doubt that you'll get an
authorative answer.

But, the good news is that I've heard of someone running LyX on
Snowleopard, the bad news is that I heard this by means of a bug  
report:

So, it'll be interesting whether this crash actually has to do  
something

with Snowleopard or not.

it? I have Snow Leopard in my hand and 1.6.3 installed on my wife's

Sorry, I have solved it.
If anyone else has this problem I write down what I've done to solve it.

I have realized that both rlog and co are outside the $PATH and are  
put into /Developer/usr/bin/rlog. So, to fix it I've just run these  
commands:


> cd /usr/local/bin
> sudo ln -s /Developer/usr/bin/co
> sudo ln -s /Developer/usr/bin/rlog

After that LyX revision control started to work as usual.

I did upgrade to Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) yesterday night, and  
today, when I started to work again with LyX, I found myself in  
troubles. I am using revision control with my document and I wanted to  
check the document out to continue working on it. But when I do so, I  
get the wollowing error:

No, there isn't.

by Lyx itself.
I tried adding \makeletter before this piece of code, the problem 
remains the smae.

Yes, also in branch. The things I changed in trunk were only necessary
in case the toolbar was turned off (before LyX was started) and thus was
never initialized.

When you hide the toolbar or when you switch to fullscreen, the combo
box still appears.

said, I'm new so I didn't know.
In fact, I filter by the "To" field and it works perfectly with Yahoo webmail

  As long as I've subscribed to this mail list, all messages have the

I agree. I use LyX with a Spanish interface writing documents in Spanish and
English languages.
But I need sometimes LyX with English (or other) interface, i.e. menues, insets
labels (foot, float, TOC...), etc, in English (or other). I do it setting in a
command line terminal the variable LANG to, e.g. en_GB.utf8, and running LyX in
that terminal.
