Re: Review toolbar not hidden in fullscreen

2012-09-24 Thread Paul A . Rubin
I was going to suggest binding a sequence of toolbar-toggle LFUNs (at least two,
one for the table toolbar and one for the math toolbar) to a key, but it turns
out that may not work. The documentation for toolbar-toggle says that it rotates
through on/off/auto, but when I tried it, it rotated through on and auto (never
off). That seems to be consistent with the View Toolbars menu no longer
toggling a menu completely off if it has the auto option
(http://article.gmane.org/gmane.editors.lyx.general/61201/match=toolbar+off).

So the only thing I can suggest is to create a new UI file where the toolbars do
not have the auto feature, and use that when you want to go fullscreen.

it. In this third incarnation of the script, by using the custom inset,
adding three buttons to the table toolbar, and changing the Overwrite on
export setting, it is possible to sort the rows of tables in LyX in a manner
that avoids all nag/query/prompt messages and feels built-in. Sorts may be
alphabetical or numerical, ascending or descending. The default horizontal
vertical rules delineating table cells are not disturbed by the sort. ERT in
table cells has no effect. Yellow (or other) notes by default also do not
affect the sort, but this can be changed with the -y option when invoking
the script, allowing fine-tuning of sort order. Finally, multiple tables in
the same document can be sorted at one go.

This is a TeX feature: in contrast to the text font-switching commands,
font commands in math mode (like \mathrm, \mathit, \mathbf, and also
\mathcal) do not change one aspekt of the font, but select a "math
alphabet" based on defaults of the "math version" (\boldmath, \sansmath,
...) set outside the math mode.

See the font guide's chapter on "math fonts" (`texdoc fntguide`) or

Sorry for not being clear - that is exactly what it is doing, and in fullscreen
mode, I only want
to have the fullscreen, without the auto toolbars - even when they would appear
in the normal
windowed mode.

Hmm, that's unfortunate. Not being able to upload files is a problem as it
prevents potential contributions. Could we think of some temporary
solution to put in place (Dropbox, SpiderOak, some otehr online file
repo) that could be used in the meantime, and have someone move all
the uploaded files once the uploading issues have been dealt with?

TOC in PlainFrame in beamer presentation

Hi

I am making a beamer presentation and would like to have the table of contents
on a PlainFrame -
but as I see it, the frame is automatically created and I do not see a way uf
using a PlainFrame
instead of a normal frame - is ther a way of using a PlainFrame for the TOC?

Thanks,

Rainer

Re: Review toolbar not hidden in fullscreen

2012-09-24 Thread Paul A . Rubin
I was going to suggest binding a sequence of toolbar-toggle LFUNs (at least two,
one for the table toolbar and one for the math toolbar) to a key, but it turns
out that may not work. The documentation for toolbar-toggle says that it rotates
through on/off/auto, but when I tried it, it rotated through on and auto (never
off). That seems to be consistent with the View > Toolbars menu no longer
toggling a menu completely off if it has the auto option
(http://article.gmane.org/gmane.editors.lyx.general/61201/match=toolbar+off).

So the only thing I can suggest is to create a new UI file where the toolbars do
not have the auto feature, and use that when you want to go fullscreen.

I just added a TOC in a plain frame to one of my presentations.
All I did was insert a plain frame, then in that frame do

Your script and module are great, and this is a functionality that
deserves getting into base LyX. Maybe worth opening a bug report for
this.

Several comments:
- In the intro, 'TabelSort' should be 'TableSort'
- Section 2.1: After defining the 'Converter box', it would help to
note that next teh user has to click Add and Apply. (Personally I find
this handling confusing.)

Some suggestions:
- Put '1A 2A 3A 4+' in a Note so that the user could easily dissolve
the inset and try to execute teh sorting procedure.
- My only objection when using the buffer-write; buffer-export
lyxtabsort;buffer-reload; sequence (run manually) is that after saving
the file, the file gets modified by a script and overwrites the
original file. The buffer is not marked as 'dirty', and there is no
Undo to the previous, unsorted tables. That's a bit dangerous. But I'm
not sure how this could be improved.

All in all excellent work! I hope that the async lfuns issue can be
solved so that sorting can be executed in one go (a button or a
shortcut). Again, I think that this functionality would be worth
integrating into LyX, and even providing some GUI for selecting the
sorting criteria.

the Wiki using FTP (or similar)? This would make for an excellent
temporary solution.

If this problem cannot be solved in the near future, you may consider
other places to host your files and post a link on the wiki, e.g. I
use github: https://github.com/yihui/lyx/downloads In that way, you
have more control over the files, instead of having to waiting for the
web admin to inspect the problem, but of course, the external file
host has to be reliable...

Several comments:

Sigh (so much for the years I spent as a proofreader/indexer).

- Section 2.1: After defining the 'Converter box', it would help to
note that next teh user has to click Add and Apply. (Personally I find

(Ah, you too type "teh" for "the".) I should have noted Add and Apply.
I'll adjust the text.

Some suggestions:
- Put '1A 2A 3A 4+' in a Note so that the user could easily dissolve
the inset and try to execute teh sorting procedure.
I'll put the entire unsorted table with its sort spec. in a yellow note.
It sorts within the note, and the reader can then compare the result
with the sorted table in the text proper.

- My only objection when using the buffer-write; buffer-export
lyxtabsort;buffer-reload; sequence (run manually) is that after saving
the file, the file gets modified by a script and overwrites the
original file. The buffer is not marked as 'dirty', and there is no

The .lyx~ back-up file is still there. The initial buffer-write sends
the unsorted .lyx file to .lyx~, so it should still be possible to
retrieve the situation if the overwrite goes wrong. In fact I've just
rescued myself from an unwanted overwrite by exactly this means. (And
that suggests another issue which I'll put to the developers: the
visibility of .lyx~ files as on option in LyX's Open dialog.)

All in all excellent work! I hope that the async lfuns issue can be
