chapter heading in capital letters

2002-10-03 Thread Luiz Eleno

Hallo

The thesis layout of my uni asks for chapter titles in capital letters

I suppose there is no need to delete the \chaptername. Consulting the
Latex Companion I couldn't figure out how to change only this, but
probably there is a way to modify just a specific point in the whole
thing. Has anyone a clue to that?

Thank you all,
Luiz

math from lyx -> rtf

2002-10-03 Thread Nirmal Govind

Hi.. I'm trying to convert some math equations from lyx/latex to rtf.. I
tried latex2rtf but it doesn't convert fractions apparently.. tried
latex2html to see if maybe that might do it but that didn't work
either.. checked the web and looks like texport does it but it's a
commercial software .. is there any way I can get equations from lyx
into rtf? (other than the obvious - typing in the math editor of MS word
or so)

Thanks,
nirmal

I do not get this. Where did you set /usr/bin/ispell? Why did you set it?

You have to check in /usr/lib/ispell if there is a dictionary for the language
you have chosen (English or German or whatever). Then you have to check if
the name of the dictionary is the name of the document language (e.g., for
German, the doc language is called "german" but the dictionary "deutsch"). If
it differs, you have to set "use alternative language: " in
the spellchecker options.

You will get better error messages if you start LyX from the console.

HTH,
Jürgen.

spell check

2002-10-03 Thread |b|c|r|

I've just switched to debian from red hat, and still getting things set up
the way i want them. i installed lyx from the deb, and the install went
smoothly (of course). but i guess its a pretty minumal install. its
still missing much of what i used to have in red hat. i get the following
error when i try to preform a spell check.

The ispell-process has died for some reason. *One* possible reason could
be that you do not have a dictionary file for the language of this
document installed. Check /usr/lib/ispell or set another dictionary in
the Spellchecker Options munu.

so i look in the options thing, and its pointing to /usr/bin/ispell which
i set. but which ispell points to /usr/bin/ispell. what else might this
be?

Put it into your texmf-tree and run the texhash script (as root)

Jürgen.

setspace.sty

2002-10-03 Thread |b|c|r|

alright. i've tried everything. i'm getting this error when i try to
double space says tex cant find setspace.sty. i got this file off of
ctan, and i've cp'd it into every dir i can think of, and lyx still cant
find it. i've also searched google and a hundred different people have
had this same problem, and all of them have solved it by getting the file
from ctan. where do i put this so lyx will see it?

Thanks.

Re: can't install it under SuSE 7.2

2002-10-03 Thread Vinay Ramnath

Allright, it took some time, but I did it. I removed /usr/local/teTeX/
which contained my manual installation of teTeX as described in their
manual. Before that, I had already uninstalled it using /bin/sh
install.sh and unselecting everything. I installed teTeX with YaST2 and
installed the rpm of LyX and it works!

Thank you all for you help and patience!

Actually, you don't need to recompile LyX.
Just erase the "paper type" entry in the Outputs->printer tab of the
preferences dialog.

Maybe, but most printer do support it.
