No, there are a few clever fallbacks implemented.

 How do I check?

'xset q' should yield a font path containing ~/.lyx/xfonts or some

Take a look at layout-document. Make sure the language setting

Hi,

Perhaps this was just a to dump question. However, I found a solution
for it:

You can place any photo (picture or image, preferrably in the eps
format) on a free place on your letter by using a backpicture.
You have to to include the graphicx-package in the latex-preamble
(\usepackage{graphicx}) . Furthermore, insert the following tex-code
into the text section of the g-brief.de-template:

{\unitlength=1cm
\begin{picture}(0,0)
\put(13,4){\includegraphics{logo.eps}}
\end{picture}}

If you use a logo.eps of the appropriate size you can put the image to
any place by modifying the \put(x,y) line.

This is not a very elegant solution, however it works.

logo.eps
Description: PostScript document

test.lyx
Description: Binary data

Description: PGP signature

My language settings in LyX are correct.

After a lot of searching I found a website where someone experienced the

Fairly. I think we some general pull out stuff operation for insets
to make this a smooth process in both ways. I miss that from time to time.
The feature could be invoked by pressing backspace in the very first
position of the inset. This is not too hard to understand and would be

Lyx 1.2.3 (Missing export to PDF/Postscript)

2003-02-05 Thread David Chapman-rxtc90
I just installed Lyx 1.2.3 here (SunOS 5.8 Ultra-5_10). We had
previously been using Lyx 1.1.6.fix4.

The configure/make/make install proceeded without a hitch. However -
when I fired up Lyx - the capability to
export to PDF was not there. I only have ASCII/Latex/Custom as options.

This export to PDF was available in the 1.1.6 version. Has anyone seen
this - can share some insight into
possibilities.

BTW: In the meantime, I'm trying to install lyxport as a workaround.

Scroll one line at a time

2003-02-05 Thread Dan Strychalski
The lyx-users page's Find link turns up the following message, which
seems not to appear in the chronological or thread index, and as far as
I can see was never answered:

 * From: Christoph Bugel
 * Subject: Scroll one line at a time
 * Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 02:28:16 -0800
 _

 Is there a way to configure lyx to scroll only one line,
 when I am at the bottom of the screen and press the DOWN
 key?

 Thanks

There is a way to configure LyX to scroll only one line, but it has some
quirks:

1. The line the cursor is on is first jerked to mid-screen, except when
   at the top or bottom of the file. (The jerking to mid-screen is
   actually a great aid in finding LyX's easy-to-lose text cursor.)

2. The method works in writable documents but not in read-only files.
   This suggests to me that something (not this method of scrolling)
   needs to be fixed.

I have bound ^W (also known as C-w or Ctrl+w) to a sequence of functions
that results in line-by-line upward scrolling (well, the viewframe goes
up, or the text goes down; take your pick) and ^Z to a sequence that
results in line-by-line downward scrolling. Here are the relevant lines
from my bindings file (for LyX 1.2.1):

 \bind C-w command-sequence up; screen-recenter;

 \bind C-z command-sequence down; screen-recenter;

If the choice of keystrokes seems strange, don't worry about it. Those
keystrokes were used for viewframe scrolling by only 90-odd per cent of
microcomputer users for only half a dozen years or so, and then -- along
with all the other combinations of Ctrl and the letter keys -- ceased to
do anything at all in successful mass-market commercial software for the
next half a dozen years or so. But this means nothing at all, of course.

A happy Year of the Goat to all.

view the image with DVI. But after i changed the class to SGML (LinuxDoc

Hi,

Perhaps this was just a to dump question. However, I found a solution
for it:

You can place any photo (picture or image, preferrably in the eps
format) on a free place on your letter by using a backpicture.
You have to to include the graphicx-package in the latex-preamble
(\usepackage{graphicx}) . Furthermore, insert the following tex-code
into the text section of the g-brief.de-template:

{\unitlength=1cm
\begin{picture}(0,0)
\put(13,4){\includegraphics{logo.eps}}
\end{picture}}

If you use a logo.eps of the appropriate size you can put the image to
any place by modifying the \put(x,y) line.

This is not a very elegant solution, however it works.

My language settings in LyX are correct.

After a lot of searching I found a website where someone experienced the
same problems I have. The solution described is to edit the language.dat
files (there are two of them), and after that you have to run
/usr/local/bin/fmtutil --all to rebuild all the hyphenation files.

The website is:

Weird this isn't mentioned in the User's Guide.

I think, this way is only for lyx-1.3.0. You can Ctrl-x (cut) the text
then insert footnote command... Ctrl-v (paste) inside footnote...

The only way it will be is if people such as yourself are willing to give a

Fairly. I think we some general pull out stuff operation for insets
to make this a smooth process in both ways. I miss that from time to time.
The feature could be invoked by pressing backspace in the very first
position of the inset. This is not too hard to understand and would be
consistent with math...

The configure/make/make install proceeded without a hitch. However -

This export to PDF was available in the 1.1.6 version. Has anyone seen
this - can share some insight into
possibilities.

BTW: In the meantime, I'm trying to install lyxport as a workaround.

Scroll one line at a time

2003-02-05 Thread Dan Strychalski
The lyx-users page's Find link turns up the following message, which
seems not to appear in the chronological or thread index, and as far as
I can see was never answered:

 * From: Christoph Bugel
 * Subject: Scroll one line at a time
 * Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 02:28:16 -0800

 \bind C-w command-sequence up; screen-recenter;

 \bind C-z command-sequence down; screen-recenter;

Er, I wasn't interested in CD-covers myself, just business-cards.
Which, after further investigation, I think I will end up doing just as
a plain business-card-sized page (using Geometry), exported to
postscript, and then piped through labelnation to generate the
multiple-cards-per-page thing.

Either that, or use glabels.

Take a look at layout->document. Make sure the language setting

hypenation
_possible_. You need to select the language to actually use it,
as lyx lets you write documents in many languages at once.

If you write mostly dutch documents, use "save as document defaults"
so you won't have to select your language for every document.

Hi,

Perhaps this was just a to dump question. However, I found a solution
for it:

You can place any photo (picture or image, preferrably in the eps
format) on a free place on your letter by using a backpicture.
You have to to include the graphicx-package in the latex-preamble
(\usepackage{graphicx}) . Furthermore, insert the following tex-code
into the text section of the g-brief.de-template:

{\unitlength=1cm
\begin{picture}(0,0)
\put(13,4){\includegraphics{logo.eps}}
\end{picture}}

If you use a logo.eps of the appropriate size you can put the image to
any place by modifying the \put(x,y) line.

This is not a very elegant solution, however it works.

logo.eps
Description: PostScript document

test.lyx
Description: Binary data

Description: PGP signature

Have a look at bicard.sty

You need almost only ERT, but the result is quite good.

My language settings in LyX are correct.

After a lot of searching I found a website where someone experienced the
same problems I have. The solution described is to edit the language.dat
files (there are two of them), and after that you have to run
"/usr/local/bin/fmtutil --all" to rebuild all the hyphenation files.

The website is:

Weird this isn't mentioned in the User's Guide.

You beauty! Thanks for the answer to the question I never asked :-)

  You need also the stylesheets that are responsible for convertion from
docbook to [html|ps].

  This seems to point in the direction I have present above.

  I had this kinds of problems when the linux distributions didn't have
packages. Now all this is nicely packaged, so I don't even remember the right
steps to fix it. :-)

That inserts the character 'y' for me (lyx 1.1.6fix4). No matrix.

The above works only with LyX >= 1.2.0

1.1.6 is not exactly the version of LyX with the best math support ;-}

Andre', admittedly biased.

Footnotes...

2003-02-05 Thread Denby, PM (Phillip)
I'm working my way through the Lyx tutorial (and user guide.) With regards
to footnotes... i read you can highlight normal text and then select the
insertfootnoe button to convert it to a foot note but it doesn't!! it
just inserts a blank foot note where the cursor is. Similaly I cannot
convert foot note text back to normal text int he way sugested as the insert
foot note button is then dissabled.
Whats wrong!

Cheers,
Phil
