[Bug] LyX 1.5.6 ignores amsmath settings when adding \iint

Because esint must be added after amsmath or else I would get errors about \iint being redefined etc. I have to add the amsmath manually in the preamble for the reasons I stated before, so esint must also be added manually to the preamle. Solved: Bibtex Problem
Hi, I just solved my problem regarding the bibtex citations. There seems to be a limit of entries, that lyx can read from the database. I didn't count the number of entries completely (as said the database is about a hundred entries). Now I opened a new database, that include the references, which lyx didn't see in the "insert citation" dialogue so far. This one I linked with the literature list in the end of the document - and they are listed! Daniel PS: if somehow possible, this problem resolved would be a great improvement for this really good program (maybe next version - I'm using 1.5.3 linux, kbibtex 0.1.5, kubuntu 7.10) --- Begin Message --- Hi, I've got a problem inserting bibtex entries into my masterthesis. I added a new entry into my bibtex database (using kbibtex). Within the program it shows up, but in the citation insert dialogue inside lyx it won't . It's a standard entry, and i already have a literature list added in the end of my document (that lists the other inserted citations beautifully) - is there maybe a database limit that lyx can handle? (my database has about a hundred entries, that shouldn't be too much) thanks in advance, daniel --- End Message ---
Re: Solved: Bibtex Problem
I agree with Jurgen: my bibtex database contains now 600 references and I don't have any problem in using it with LyX. On the contrary: being a LyX users for just a few months, I am always amazed by realizing how it is easy and aeffective to insert references in papers using LyX. Obviously it would be a great problem if LyX coun't use a big database for managing references so as that LyX users would be compelled to split their database in several smaller dtabases. So I would say that there is no such a limit to entries that lyx can read from the database as Daniel says. Hi all, I really agree with James' response. So far, what I have done is to export Zotero as bibtex. Then import bibtex into Jabref, and use the link of Jabref with Lyx. Images in Lyx result in error message while generating pdf
Hi! I have a problem inserting images (I use .png) into my Lyx-document. Well, inserting is not the real problem, but when I try to generate a pdf I get the following error message: Paragraph ended before [EMAIL PROTECTED] was complete. I searched the latex code but could not find anything. What I can do without any error is to export the document to dvi but the inserted images are missing. If I remove the image, there is no error and the pdf can be generated. Version of Lyx is 1.5.3 on Ubuntu 8.04. Thanks in advance, Chris
Re: Images in Lyx result in error message while generating pdf
I have chosen to start to use LyX as a substitute for Scientific Word with the version 1.6 (RC2 and RC3) but I have problems too. Lyx tries to convert the images to PDF even if already have the PDF versions in the same folder as my document this folder contains the same files in PDF and EPS format). It does this if I do not give the file extension but also if I precise the .pdf extension... This tires me because I must export the file each time in order to compile it... I use Lyx under XP French SP3 with TexLive 2005. Re: jpg to eps
E.Kaplan wrote: What is the converted from jpg to eps? What is the syntax of the relevant line in the CONVERTERS section of the preferences? This will depend upon your platform. But on Linux, at least, LyX usually uses ImageMagick, and the line can be as simple as: convert $$i $$o That's why ImageMagick is, well, magic! rh

I manage all my 150+ references with kbibtex, and lyx uses the same bibtex file without any problems. I use google scholar to show the bibtex reference for a new article (you have to configure google scholar first), or I export to a .res file and open this with kbibtex and copy it over to my main bibtex source, remembering to select a new resource identifier for the reference (kbibtex gives you a pulldown list of alternatives). Works without problems ... including foreign characters. Sometime though, the google bibtex references are not complete so I edit them (with kbibtex) to make sure they have what I want, including a link to the PDF version of the article through DOI or on my hard drive. [Bug] LyX 1.5.6 ignores amsmath settings when adding \iint
Hi, I've encountered some strange behavior in LyX 1.5.6. In the document settings I've disabled the "Use AMS math package automatically" and unchecked the "Use AMS math package", but when I add a formula containing the \iint symbol, this setting gets ignored and LyX uses the AMS math package. The problem with it is that I need to add the amsmath package after babel so I have to do it manually in the latex preamble section of the document settings. However, when LyX adds it it does so *before* adding babel. Regards, Guy http://www.guyrutenberg.com

Guy Rutenberg schrieb: In the document settings I've disabled the "Use AMS math package automatically" and unchecked the "Use AMS math package", but when I add a formula containing the \iint symbol, this setting gets ignored and LyX uses the AMS math package. Not LyX inserts this, you did, see below: The problem with it is that I need to add the amsmath package after babel so I have to do it manually in the latex preamble section of the document settings. However, when LyX adds it it does so *before* adding babel. Everything that you insert to the preamble is placed by LyX before babel. I know that this might be a weird decision, but we had to decide to load babel before the user preamble or behind it, and the latter turned out to be more safe. To get what you want, use this in the preamble: \usepackage{babel} \usepackage{amsmath} That babel is then again loaded after the preamble, can be ignored. regards Uwe
