This means that latex wasn't found. Have you installed MiKTeX 2.9 separately before installing LyX? I haven't installed MiKteX separately. I used the Installer LyX-168-4-26-AltInstaller-Complete.exe to install LyX w/ MiKteX. This is why I don't understand that latex wasn't found because both
