I want to write Chinese in my document.
So I followed the instruction in Wiki,
Note: the following steps are only necessary up to LyX 1.6.x. As of LyX 2.0,
you will just need to clickDocument→Settings...→Fonts→Use non-TeX fonts (via
XeTeX/LuaTeX). Then you can immediatelyView→PDF (XeTeX).

Ah, ok, thanks, I missed that "M" to "A" change mentioned in mac.bind
somehow. I was defining "M-m" in the bind file, and mistaking that to mean
"Option-m", but once I defined "A-m" it worked as expected by using
"Option-m," and it overrode the system's special character behavior. Thanks

I should also mention that this behavior can't be overriden by adding Meta
shortcuts to my .bind file, so even the solution originally proposed (adding
each Meta- shortcut to the bind file) won't work. That is, if I assign a
shortcut to "M-m" and then try to use Option-m from LyX, it still inserts
Hi Bart -
Thanks for your suggestion, but (no surprise here) this is yet another of
Apple's regrettable design decision that users have no ability to easily
change. The system preferences have no controls for this behavior. There is
probably some obscure plist file somewhere that controls this beh

hey all,
it indeed works :-D Yay!!! Thanks to all. I just tested the lilypond
feature, works great too :-). Considering to finish my guitar study book in
lyx now too. I'll let you know when my first book is ready :-p.

This does not happen with program listings when I try.
The "--" construct becomes a long dash only in plain text, not in listings.
There are

"section*" never go into the TOC, and it is never numbered either.
