Is there any debug code that we can put in that would allow users who experience the issue to report back to us some information that would help us narrow down the issue? I haven't had any luck pinpointing the culprit (or how to replicate this), and it will be helpful to know if this is platform specific. I think that most of the reports we've seen have been Windows-specific. I know of no reports that aren't on Windows. My fear is that it is really a Qt bug. rh

As Vincent said, we'd LOVE to have more information about this bug. It seems to happen only on some machines, so may have something to do with what other programs are running, and so forth. If you can experiment at all along those lines, or even try to keep track of what you did right before the problem arose, we'd really appreciate it. I resolve it by simply shutting it off and then restarting. Actually it happens to me multiple times a day. You might try inserting a different font spec;
e.g., type `I\font='.
This happens with Times New Roman and Garamond for the NewTX math font.
Euler and Kurier both work (but are ugly IMHO.)
PDFLatex gives a similar error, but complains that there is no font of
size 8.8 pt loadable.
XeXtex coplains about missing temp pdf.
I have tried some suggestions of reinstalling texlive-collection-
fontsrecommended. I have wiped my preamble out and removed all loaded
modules in document settings.
This is all on a Fedora 22 system, using LyX 2.1.4.
What am I missing?
