Subject: [FOSS-Nepal] Tutorial for Devanagari Documents in LyX
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], "Suraj Adhikari (GMail)" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Hi,
I have written a tutorial for Devanagari Document creation in
Does anyone know of any interesting and nice classes for creating
books (other than AMS, KomaScript, Memoir). A friend found Bookest,
which works for LaTeX, and he says it nice. How do I go about using it
in Lyx? Thanks! FN

Any way I could insert the authors' names in the table-of-contents,
without including the same in the top-of-the-page information? This is
for a multi-authored book, where we need to identify the author of
each chapter adequately. Thanks! FN

Is there some way I can automate the generation of a Lyx index?
Manually selecting all the entries (multiple times) can be tiresome
and time-consuming... FN

se the ``quotes" .. and it works fine. The " quotes
(close quotes) might need to be replaced, because plain-text doesn't
render it exactly as would the key to the very far right on the middle
row does in Lyx.
Thanks again! FN

I've inserted the introduction after a Table of Contents, using
standard text. Thanks again for all your help. I quite like Lyx! --FN

ooking for is something that would create the elegant,
textbook-like 66quotes99 (using 66 and 99 to explain their shape...).

Dear all, Could you please tell me how to get a decent, shapely "set
of inverted commas" instead of the rough-looking ones I get from Lyx?
Thanks for all for your useful help, specially to Steve. FN

Hi all, I created an index, and then reworked my book. To my surprise I
found the index hadn't been updated. Did I do something wrong? How do I get
all the index entries to reflect the latest corrections? Thanks in advance,
FN

No, I've used other software. They get a pretty neat result,
regardless of the column width. At most, they might stuff a lot of
white space *in between* words. FN

That's true. But how do other software programmes attain this? Just
curious... (worked in newspapers earlier... now interested in books).

I've deleted some text from Lyx, but the blank page remains inserted.
Probably this is because of the "track changes" setting which still
holds the text in its place. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! FN

Hi all, I'm working to create a book in Lyx. The book has a number of
black-and-white line-art illustrations. Some of them span 100% of the
page (which is easy to insert).
The issue is the ones which need to be text-wrapped in say 50, 60 or
70% of the text-space.
I don't seem to have understood
Can someone please tell me how to delete the rule that every chapter
(in a book) needs to start only on a right hand side page? I'm
exceeding the printer's page count, and wouldn't mind saving some
paper. Thanks! FN

I've inserted a lot of images using text-wrap. Two images of the book
span the entire page (100% of text or column). Somehow, inspite of
mentioning that the image are to cover 100% of the page, some text
keeps falling out in the margins. How do I avoid this? Tia. FN

Could anyone kindly help me by:
1. Pointing to a useful online tutorial for getting graphics into Lyx
(for a book).
2. Tell me how I knock off the 'figure number' below graphics inserted?
Currently, I am using Lyx 1.4.3 (a relative newbie), trying to build a
book (monocolour, with black-and-whit
