Vertical space not respected in the pdflatex output
Dear All, When I insert a vertical space in the beginning of a page, such a vertical space does not appear in the pdflatex output. (Please, see the attached file.) Any ideas? I am using $ rpm -q lyx lyx-1.5.6-2.fc9.i386 $ on Fedora 9 (Linux). Thanks in advance, Paul example_vertical_space.lyx Description: application/lyx

It is possible to install the texlive packages that are under review for Fedora inclusion in Fedora 7. The idea is to replace tetex by texlive and the packages are the work of the same package maintainer of tetex for Fedora. Those texlive packages will replace tetex for Fedora 9. I have used them previously in Fedora 7 (I am using now Fedora 8) and it works. Thanks, Jose´, but where can one get those packages? I have tried this repo: http://people.redhat.com/jnovy/files/texlive/texlive.repo However, it only contains F8 packages and none of F7. Paul

Disabling ligatures requires pdfTEX 1.30, letterspacing and the adjustment of interword spacing and of kerning requires version 1.40. So with pdfTeX 1.21, you cannot use the spacing and kerning options. Thanks, Jürgen. I am using Fedora 7 with the most recent updates, but pdfeTeX is not yet the new one.
