Is there a way to get LyX to do this? I didn't see it in the menus.

In the 2.0.0alpha2, don't work the thesaurus in spanish. In actual

The alpha2 version worked well without fail in my experience. Now the

I have built the rpm to Mandriva 2010 for 2.0.0alpha3. With the object

If you _download_ LyX for linux from the lyx website, then you get
source code that you can compile. Doing that is complicated indeed,
and not recommended for a beginner.

There are _many_ different linux distributions. Making a lyx installer
for each is a lot of work, so it is not done by lyx developers.

Instead, linux distribution developers put lyx in their
distributions. So, the correct way to install lyx is
to use your linux distribution's way of installing software.

With debian, I use this command:
$ apt-get install lyx

That's all. I didn't even have to download anything. With this command,
debian will download and install lyx and all other software that
is needed to make lyx work.

If you have ubuntu, the command is similiar. Other linux distributions
are different, and you may have to download a package first. But you
download the lyx package from your linux distributor, not
from the lyx website.

Why there is hard to find install. exe file for LyX at lyx.org?
Is it true taht that words Major Linux distributions take care of LyX
binaries themselves and you will find LyX in their repositories. mean
when I buy a new notebok with Linux installed then there will also LyX
there?

If the notebook comes with a _major_ linux distribution installed,
then it may or may not have LyX already. Installing LyX using
the standard way of installing lyx on that linux distribution
should be easy enough though. If you need help, ask here or
in the linux distributors forum.

Note that some notebooks comes with not so major linux distributions,
which may not have lyx at all. In that case, consider switching to
a better distribution.

How can put the Text in the left corner down, in vertical position

You can put a vertical line 2pt width and a Text centered above the

an ERT box at the beginning of the document:

\AddToShipoutPicture{\psline[linewidth=2pt](2,3)(2,26.5)}
\AddToShipoutPicture{\rput(2,27){\large Text}}

You will need to put this in your preamble:

\usepackage{pstricks,eso-pic,calc,graphicx}

With command \rule a vertical line is generated, but I need that in the
down left of the line, a text appears, also in vertically above the
line, as in the example, but in vertically.

Use a marginal note. In the marginal note, type Example
On the next line in the marginal note, make the horizontal line.

A line can be made in a number of ways:

* A deep table column, with a frame line on one side only.
  (the line will be narrow)

* A box with colored background, narrow width and great height.
  For some reason, setting the height for a colored box
  doesn't work. So put a minipage inside, and set the minipage
  height to 95% of textheight or so.
  (The line have adjustable thickness above some minimum.
   It will be red - no choice there it seems.)

* Use ERT, for example  \rule{0.5cm}{15cm}
  This is the most flexible way, I think. No limits on line dimensions.
  If you want a colored line, select the whole ERT box and use
  Edit-Text Style and set the color.

With command \rule a vertical line is generated, but I need that in the
down left of the line, a text appears, also in vertically above the
line, as in the example, but in vertically.

Thanks advanced

Use a marginal note. In the marginal note, type Example
On the next line in the marginal note, make the horizontal line.

A line can be made in a number of ways:

* A deep table column, with a frame line on one side only.
  (the line will be narrow)

* A box with colored background, narrow width and great height.
  For some reason, setting the height for a colored box
  doesn't work. So put a minipage inside, and set the minipage
  height to 95% of textheight or so.
  (The line have adjustable thickness above some minimum.
   It will be red - no choice there it seems.)

* Use ERT, for example  \rule{0.5cm}{15cm}
  This is the most flexible way, I think. No limits on line dimensions.
  If you want a colored line, select the whole ERT box and use
  Edit-Text Style and set the color.

  Hi Olivier :

  I make your indications, and in the configure process, give me the
  error :
  checking size of wchar_t... configure: error: cannot compute sizeof
  (wchar_t), 77
  and exit

  Someone idea

It seems that this is due to wchar.h missing on your hard drive. When i
look for it (locate wchar.h) on mine, it seems to be:

/usr/include/wchar.h
and
/usr/include/bits/wchar.h

Asking rpm for which files have provided them:
rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/include/wchar.h
the returned file is:
glibc-devel-2.4-8mdv2007.1
(OK, I reckon I have a mix of 2007.1 and 2007.0 on this computer).

Have you installed glibc-devel package ? It is the most basic devel
package to install if you want to compile a program. If not, then I
wonder if you will not have plenty of other errors later. You need to
install devel packages for every library that LyX will use in order to
compile it. A decent install should always have devel packages for
glibc, gtk, X, qt, glib, stdc++ and a few other installed.

Best regards,

Olivier

PS: actually, wchar_t may be defined in stddef.h, provided also by
glibc-devel

Yes, I have checked the packages and files wchar, and I have it, in
/usr/include and /usr/include/bits, and also glibc-devel. The
compilation process, detect the wchar_t file, but cannot define your sizeof.

Thanks advanced

checkinstall ( You must have this package installed )
When end, you shall have the rpm built, then

Follow the next step :

./configure --with-frontend=qt -with-pspell
make
checkinstall ( You must have this package installed )
When end, you shall have the rpm built, then
rpm -ivh lyx-1.4.4.i386.rpm for example

Also, instead of checkinstall you can use as root, make install

Miguel

Probe with some previous version and possibly the problem disappears.
