Exams in LyX

2013-12-24 Thread Ibrahim El Merehbi
Hello all,

First of all Merry Christmas.

Do you have any suggestion about writing an exam in LyX?

I am mainly interested in having a header with 2 logos on either side of
the page (left & write) along with the institution name in the middle
plus a box under that that has all info regarding the exam name, space
for grade and class average and date etc...

Any suggestions?

P.S.: I've searched but didn't find but one previous thread that had no
solution.

Happy holidays.

Re: lyx in arabic or persian

2013-02-13 Thread Ibrahim El Merehbi
Actually upon further investigation, I found out:

Tools > TeX Information > arabart.cls (is present)

I "reconfigured" LyX & restarted it & there it was: Article[Arabic]

BUT

the problem that Scribus has is present in LyX.

I am not sure which version it was, but I once tried writing in LyX in
Arabic & it worked well. What I'm sure of is that it was running under
Ubuntu 10.04 (x86)

What do you think?

Remove parts from a class (e.g; Elsevier)

2012-04-30 Thread El Merehbi, Ibrahim

I'd like to ask if it is possible to remove any embedded parts of a
particular class. For example, in the Document class: article(Elsevier),
the output displays "Preprint submitted to Elsevier" at the lower left
of the first page.

I wrote two documents using that class, but now I have set my default to
AMS's (still experimenting).

Thanks

Actually, I don't use word anymore; even OpenOffice or LibreOffice I
don;t use either except for rare occasions; that's why wehn I found out
about LyX (while searching for Scientific Workplace -commercial) I
chose LyX & have been using it ever since. Am happ with it :D

I do have a cxn, but I am writing a document with someone & I'd like to
install it for him so we can work on the editing together, but he
doesn't have a cxn (weird as it may be) + to save time in installing.
And yes, that's what I was thinking; I just wanted to know how to find
what packages (dependencies incl. of course) I needed & where to find
them (for Ubuntu!)

Sure I do need to write mathematics, with TeX! :D

Re: numbering multi-line formulas

2012-04-15 Thread El Merehbi, Ibrahim
Hello again,

I believe I didn't clear it out well. I meant a shortcut for the
"eqnarray" not the equation numbering.

The default of your stated functions are:

math-number-line-toggle: Alt+M Shift+N
math-number-toggle: Alt+M N

both of which do the same thing; I already use the second one for
numbering.

Note: LyX 2.0.3 on Ubuntu 10.04

Thanks again
