Re: New installation - eye preview button greyed out
Reinstalled both programs in the correct order and reconfigured LyC, everything seem fine. Did you install MacTeX already? If you did it after installing LyX you have to reconfigure LyX. If this doesn't help you have to check the protocol of the last configure run. You may do so with enabling the messages in View->Messages and check the output. Alternatively you may check the contents of the configure.log file. To find this file you may open the Terminal app and type $ mdfind -name configure.log This should print something like /Users/stephan/Library/Application Support/LyX-2.1/configure.log This file contains the protocol of the script LyX is using to check for the availability of the programs you've installed to produce the final output - including the pdf files. I have the same problem. I have just downloaded version 2.14 on a Mac. The eyes on the toolbar are greyed out. I followed the procedure to solve the issue. Though, pdf is not an option when it comes to output. I only have Rich Text Format and LyXHTML. Any ideas on what I should do? Many thanks

I tried it with an account I've just created so the LyX settings are created from scratch for sure. And this worked for me. I don't know what happened. But I'm glad you solved it for you. To get the view button to activate: Go to menu: Preferences > File Handling > File Formats Change the Default Output Format to PDF (pdflatex). Re: New installation - eye preview button greyed out
The view button (command+R) is greyed out -- it says command disabled when typing the shortcut. It looks like the view master document is also grey -- but this is less of a concern. Here is an example of the toolbar: On Jun 18, 2013, at 12:09 AM, Stephan Wittwrote:Am 18.06.2013 um 08:29 schrieb Kristen Lurie :I recently install LyX on a new machine (MacOSX 10.8.4). New installation - eye preview button greyed out
I recently install LyX on a new machine (MacOSX 10.8.4). I installed MacTeX and LyX. I am able to get the document to compile using the menu View > View (Other Formats) > pdflatex. However the eyes button on the toolbar is greyed out. Is this related to some type of preview plugin that I don't have? Do you have other suggestions for why this button might not be active? Thanks, KL
