Yes I use afrikaans, english, german, dutch in the document. The
dutch.ldf file look correct, so the problem is not there. If I try to
edit it manually by removing the german in the \documentclass line as
well as all the \selectlanguage{german} bits from the document

LyX-file, I can have a look at it.
Uwe, when you say check for an actual version of my LateX distribition
does that mean the SuSE
