You use in some section defitinions \uppercase or \MakeUpercase. Should
be \MakeUppercase in all cases.

Here are your errors:

> \setkomafont{chapterentry}{\mdseries\scshape\MakeUpercase}

\MakeUppercase (not the double "p")

> \addtokomafont{chapter}{\normalfont\LARGE\rmfamily\uppercase}

\MakeUppercase (not \uppercase)

I used a small part of the book and used -to be on the safe side, Lyx
2.2.3 (17Mai2017).

I get errors, which seem to be due to

\setkomafont{section}{*\it*}

\setkomafont{subsection}{\hskip1cm\it}

in the LaTex Preface.

which is nowadays replaced by \*itshape*

and warnings.

The *Preface is from Springer Publisher*

I am now trying longer parts of the book and see, whether I find the
culprits.

(Thanks, Jürgen, I could send you the .arch file of the book, but its
1.3 MiB and thus an imposition)

lyx2lyx error?

2018-02-12 Thread Wolfgang Engelmann
I am trying to open an older lyx file (2016, not sure, which version of
lyx it was) with ~/*lyx-2.3.0beta1*$ src/lyx -dbg info

It won't export the pdf file, giving this:

File '/tmp/lyx_tmpdir.EZUiCirb6544/lyx_tmpbuf0/PBR-FINAL-n-B.tex' was
not closed properly

I noticed that the figure legends are outside the float figure box such as:

figure 3.2 box here: [figure label] [short title] box ends here

legend outside the box

however, It should be:

figure 3.2 box here: [figure label] [short title] legend inside the box
- box ends here

I cut the outside legend and put it inside the float, but to no avail.
Trying the pdf output again would not work.

A search seems to track this error down to a lyx2lyx problem.

Is this a known problem, and is there a work around, or should I try the
latest *stable* version instead?

Wolfgang

defaults.lyx, lyx2lyx error in LyX 1.6

2009-03-03 Thread Joachim Osnabryg
Yesterday, I still produced lyx letters with my own templates.
Today - whyever - I wanted to start with File = New and got the
error message:

_
/Users/joachim/Library/Application
Support/LyX-1.6/templates/defaults.lyx
stammt von einer anderen LyX-Version, aber das lyx2lyx-Skript
konnte das

Dokument nicht konvertieren.
=
.../LyX-1.6/templates/defaults.lyx
is from another LyX-Version, but the lyx2lyx script could not
convert the document.

This is rather cryptic for me. I neither understand why I should
have the wrong defaults.lyx, nor have I an idea how to repare
this problem.

I did some other install and uninstall with MacPorts meanwhile,
the uninstalls I did carefully first asking the port

But probably an incomplete python25 installed by macports, i.e., you are
missing some modules (the py25- stuff in macports).

You can either

1) run lyx2lyx from terminal, try to find out which modules it is

(with LaTeX and LyX).

I did some other install and uninstall with MacPorts meanwhile, the
uninstalls I did carefully first asking the port dependencies. (But I'm
not really familiar with MacPort.)

Because of your question I asked now "port installed" and that gave back
inter alia:

python25 @2.5.4_0+darwin_8+macosx (active)
python_select @0.2.1_0+darwin_8 (active)

So, not python3.

But probably an incomplete python25 installed by macports, i.e., you are
missing some modules (the py25- stuff in macports).

You can either

1) run lyx2lyx from terminal, try to find out which modules it is
missing and install those from macports or

2) re-select Apple's built-in python as default python using
python_select -l
to see what are your options and then
sudo python_select the_one_with_apple_in_the_name
where the_one_with_apple_in_the_name is probably python23-apple (since
you are on Tiger).

Is python necessary for or obstructive to LyX?

Necessary.

Which python has to be installed?

python 2.x

Could installing the actual LyX version 1.6.1 once again (over the
existing) help?

You can try - in case it's something else than python.

Months ago, I installed MacPorts, because I wanted to use rtf2latex2e
(with LaTeX and LyX).

I have only those additional modules installed:

  py25-bsddb @2.5.2_1 (active)
  py25-sqlite3 @2.5.2_0 (active)
  py25-hashlib @2.5.2_0 (active)
  py25-zlib @2.5.2_0 (active)

The first two are quite sure unrelated to LyX.
LyX definitely needs zlib. About hashlib I don't remember where it comes
from.

I tried that with:

localhost:/opt joachim$ lyx2lyx
-bash: lyx2lyx: command not found

Question: What would be a correct command to "run lyx2lyx from
the terminal"

(for future problems)?

"just for fun" I did too:

localhost:/opt joachim$ lyx
-bash: lyx: command not found
localhost:/opt joachim$ ./lyx
-bash: ./lyx: No such file or directory

Question: What is the right way to call lyx from the command line
(given that this is a common advice to find out problems)?

Response and my further proceeding:

Available versions:
current none python23-apple python25
localhost:/opt joachim$ sudo python_select python23-apple
Password:
Selecting version "python23-apple" for python
localhost:/opt joachim$ python_select -l
Available versions:
current none python23-apple python25

Although nothing seemed to have changed, I started LyX again.

Document => New

with success, without error message!

Thank you, Konrad, that did it.
