Make longtable table captions single space?

Hi, I am using the longtable instructions on in the Embedded Ojbects doc. The only problem I am having is that the caption for the longtable is coming out double space rather than single. I know this is probably due to the fact that caption is put in as a hack into the first row of the longtable
