Yes, that was the drive belt I used also if I recall, made by Russell Industries. I can’t find my old purchase info from eBay, but it was about $9 at the time. (I think Brian mentioned that price as well.) It was so nice to see the drive come to life! Best wishes, Anthony All on the list:

For your first Model T I wouldn't recommend a "parts only" computer. The only caveat is that Model T's taken out of storage often appear to novice or non-users as "dead". They put batteries in, the screen doesn't show anything or it shows garbage and they give up. What causes this is the RAM

Recently discovered that a few gadgets in my “collection” work well or could work with a little effort, and I have been having fun with those: an old Apple ImageWriter (a beastly tank, but great through the serial port), a TPDD2 that I had never been able to test until I replaced the totally

I can vouch that the regular cable works when connected to a PC. Given a null modem in between it. I used that setup when I wrote TPDDClient in order to backup disk images to my PC. There may have been a special LapDOS cable but it certainly isn’t necessary. At least not with today’s PCs.

Yes that 0v from the tpdd is exactly one of the things that seems really wrong to me, regardless that it apparently "works". I mean, it's OK in the particular case of the M100, because the M100 contains pull-downs internally that will pull a floating line down to -5. Floating or open, or tied to

Regarding the TPDD cable and what’s “in” it to handle the RS232 to TTL level conversions passively, isn’t it possible that the little 3 terminal devices Marty described are just what he ended up using, i.e., diode-resistor dividers in which the diode has a high enough reverse breakdown voltage not

Hi. My name is Jerry Novak. I have a 'non working' M100 also. The display doesn't work. I did find on line an article about replacing a couple of electrolytic capacitors in the display chain of things. It must be a fairly common thing on the M100s. These two capacitors dry out and your

I wonder if those mystery 3-legged parts Marty described in the real cable weren't simply plain old diodes in SOT-23 package? https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/panasonic-electronic-components/DB3X314K0L/DB3X314K0LCT-ND/2354721 On Thu, Mar 1, 2018 at 4:38 AM, Brian White
