Thanks everyone. I'll check out the suggestions. For now, I installed TWC (The Weather Channel) and enabled severe weather alerts for my home city. I'll let you know if that is at all helpful after we have one of our inevitable severe weather situations this spring. I'll also let you know

Do any of you know of a good user-friendly iPhone app that is intended to provide notifications to alert of weather warnings in the user's local area? I would like to have alerts when the area that I am in is under a tornado warning or severe storm warning, for example. Thanks, Laurie ---

yeah and I got awakened a few times by flood warnings the day of a funeral. or shall I say the night before. the app works well and that alarm will get your attention. I only wish it could be an exception to the do not disturb one as I do want to be notified so I can get to where I'm going
