Downloading Skype. Is it possible?
Hello, I have just wasted nearly an hour trying to download Skype. I clicked on get Skype and then on mac and then free. Then I clicked on download Skype and no where can I find where I download it. I did find a caption, which seems absolutely ridiculous to go through just to get Skype. I couldn't understand a word it said anyway. Could anyone give me some tips please? Hi Roger, Thank you, your help is very much appreciated. I was a little premature asking for help because since I asked I managed to download it and I have now tested it out and got it working fine. Problem with Log in Window, can you try and help?
Hello all. Can you please try and help with the following. Last night I let both my mac and iPhone charge. So I logged out of my user account and all was fine and I left it for a few hours. But when I came back to it, VoiceOver said, displaying 1 system dialogue, and I therefore could not do anything with the log in Window, because all VoiceOver said was, Authentication has no windows! Lol! So guess what? I had to literally hard reset the mac! Lol! This has happened a few times actually when I left my mac at the log in window for some time, but decided to write in only now as it happened again last night. So if I do this, will I damage my mac over time? Gary Price here said that if you put the mac to sleep while charging an iOS device, it still charges, providing you are still logged in. If this is the case, should I do this instead? This is on a Macbook Pro 13 inch late 2011 model running Mountain Lion. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please respond as soon as possible. Re: Introduction and a question about turning screen off on a MacBook Air
You cannot disable the screen, but you can turn the brightness all the way down to 0% if you want. Simply press FN-F1 until VoiceOver says, 0%. Note if you have the function keys configured to use hardware features, which is the case by default, just press F1. Sent from my Windows laptop. Re: Problem with Log in Window, can you try and help?
Hi, I've covered this is another topic. Basically, what happens is that the screensaver appears. When that happens, tapping a key doesn't automatically bring focus to the window. So, you can hit VO-F1-F1 to bring up the Application CHooser. Go to the Login window menu, then hit enter on it and select the only window available there. You have to use the application chooser because it's essentially a different application that manages the Login window. Re: Introduction and a question about turning screen off on a MacBook Air
You can turn the screen curtain on with control-option-shift-f11. The control and option keys that must be used are the ones on the left, and are commonly known as the co keys, for VoiceOver. Also, in system preferences, go to keyboard and check the box stating to use all f1 through f12 keys as standard keys. Re: Keyboard clicking sound
WEll checking back on your message since mine prematurely sent am not seeing all letters in caps, so it's not that. Are the sticky keys turned on perhaps too? And there is one other thing on the tip of the brain that it might be but am not remembering it at the moment. But caps lock and sticky keys are the first two I would check. Good luck I know how annoying having something like that going on can be. I strongly suggest that, in the first table of options, you select Disk Utility and then re-partition your hard drive. Be sure to select Mac OS X (Journaled) from the list of options. Then in the Options section, select GUID partition type, click Apply, then click Partition. Once done, then you can proceed to the install as normal. Ok, Gordon, that's what I was beginning to suspect. I've already done a repair permissions twice. I'm running mountain lion now, how would I go about reinstalling it from scratch, please? Re: eror - 50
Hello Kate: I'm not Gordon but here is what I would suggest. Boot from the ML stick, and if you only have 1 partition, interact with the table and choos disk utility. VO right to VO space on continue. Interact with the table to select your internal hard drive. Warning, do not choose the Macintosh HD, choose above that which usually is a bunch of numbers. Stop interacting, VO right to partition and VO space. Next choose OSX journaling, and make sure when you VO space on the combo box referring to partitioning, don't choose but instead choose 1 partition. You also can name the untitled to Macintosh HD. When the above is complete, go to option making sure it's set to GUID or something like that. After you go to ok, then you want to apply. This is how I installed ML but of course I had a TimeMachine backup from Lion. It sounds like a lot to go through but you can partition the hard drive in minutes comparing to erase a volume which may take hours. I'm assuming you know how to start when you boot from the ML USB stick. Hope this helps and write if I might have missed something John On Sep 7, 2012, at 6:14 PM, Cait Furness caitlyn.furn...@gmail.com wrote: Ok, Gordon, that's what I was beginning to suspect.
