Re: [Mac-access]: Finally installed Windows on the MacBook Pro
Just a gentle reminder now that we’re back on the trail of the group so to speak. Please don’t go down the road of discussion of Windows itself in this group. Discuss the configuration of the virtual machine, as you do in this post, that is fine. But please don’t go down the Windows road. To answer your question. I believe you’ll probably find that if you change the number of processor cores you have active from the default “1” to “2”, you should see a vast improvement. This may cause your guest OS to need to be reactivated. I always advise people not to activate the thing immediately. Get it working first, decide whether or not you’re likely to take to the virtual environment and then decide whether you wish to activate the guest. Anyway, I hope that my suggestion is of help to you. But again as a gentle and general reminder to the group, please don’t discuss guest OS issues in this forum. Discuss the VM itself, that is fine, but not the guest. I now that probably sounds strange, and I am aware that it isn’t the way other groups work. But that has always been, and remains now, list policy. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding. [Mac-access]: Finally installed Windows on the MacBook Pro
Hi Following my earlier message, I went ahead and installed Windows on the Mac this morning and got JAWS installed and activated. This was done as a virtual machine. Re: [Mac-access]: Finally installed Windows on the MacBook Pro
Brian - Is your VMWare Fusion updated to the most recent version? Unfortunately, JAWS and Windows using a virtual machine isn't quite as good a performer as with bootcamp. However, I really do not tend to encounter the issue you mention very often at all. It did occur more frequently in the past but Fusion updates have improved it. I have tinkered with the amount of memory allocated to the VM and have found that, for me, 4 GB works well. I have dedicated one processor core. This is on a Macbook Air mid-2013 with 8 GB of total memory. I am using VMWare Fusion Version 6.0.6 (2684343). You have probably purchased version 7 since you are a new user, so this is obviously going to be a difference.
