I am finding this thread interesting. I was under the impression as a Mac newbee that people did not fill up the Finder with icons but went to the Doc or to the Documents folder. Now am I missing out on something? Maybe you are referring to the Documents folders as Finder folders, please

It’s best to use the Dock for aliases. Personally, I don’t bother with them as it’s so easy to locate any files or folders I want by using the first letter or two of the name. I’m really pretty organised when it comes to storing files. Also, don’t forget that it’s easy to reorganise the Dock so

This is under ios, not osx. Osx yosemite is broken right now. I wrote to apple about this the first day i used yosemite, and submitted the issue in bug report format. It can be reproduced. To be clear raise to listen is under ios. I can't imagine anyone holding a mac book to their ear.
