Thanks. I have reformatted the darn thing many times in the Mac extended
Journaling. It just won't work and my computer was the only one using it. I
even tried formatting the drive in a few other formats. I really believe
something is wrong with the drive or it is not truly mac compatible.
Odd that the reformat didn't take care of things. It does sound like
there is some issue with the USB bridge stuff in the enclosure although

This is usually a mail server problem and not something you can fix.
Often times when I get it I just try sending again a few seconds later
and things go through. All depends on who your mail provider is. While
you might be using POP or IMAP to retrieve messages, all sent mail goes
