Thanks. I have reformatted the darn thing many times in the Mac extended Journaling. It just won't work and my computer was the only one using it. I even tried formatting the drive in a few other formats. I really believe something is wrong with the drive or it is not truly mac compatible.

my machine is more than 5 years old. its also not exactly on supported apple hardware (a hackintosh). it has some other issues that is making it hard to work with (voiceover crashes sometimes). I would put OS 10.7 on here if I could, but the hardware is old enough that even installing rollbacks
