Go to system preferences/time machine. VO right arrow until you reach the off
button. Vo spacebar on it to turn off automatic backups.

which is about an hour without problems. I have used both amadeus and itunes.
In my opinion ITunes is doing a great job here.

You are overlooking the fact that when converting to .m4r you are making a
special version of .m4a for ring tones. Assuming Kerri wants to use a file as
a ring tone on her Iphone, this file cannot be more than 30 seconds in legth.
