Seems like you should be able to do something with the terminal. In terminal you can do diskutil repairPermissions / to repair permissions on all folders starting at the top level. Then you could set up a cron job using the cron scheduler to run the above command at certain points in time.

Hey Jim, Thanks will have to check if docking gets selected the next time the sounds go out. I doubt that is it as when it happens it also seems to be affecting keyboard commander and don't think the docking would affect that, but definitely something I will check the next time it happens.
