The nest has no physical switches. Whether it can be controlled or not depends on what wires are coming to the thermostat. You would really probably be best if you contact Nest and ask them. Sent from my iPhone > On Jul 24, 2020, at 13:57, 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries > wrote: > > It’s

If you just want to control the thermostat the nest app works very well with voiceover. I have no real complaints with that. But if you want to integrate it into a HomeKit environment like say to use it to control fans or shades then no it’s not HomeKit compatible. Plus it isn’t as secure as Hom

Hi. Okay, thanks for the info. One more question... We have a gas furnace with bassboard heating and electric central air. Our current thermostat has a physical switch that let's you choose heat, cool, or off. Does the Nest have this sort of switch or is it in the app? (I haven't actually got to

Hi Cameron, Well, I've been a happy Nest user for several years. The app works well. You can adjust the temperature easily and eventually, it will remember your preferred settings. The only issue is the scheduling option as that based on a grid. Honestly, not being able to schedule my temperatur

Cameron, that is the very reason that we switched from Nest to ecobee. Nest and Siri do not play well together. The only way to control Nest using Siri is via Google Assistant. You cannot set up a Nest device in HomeKit. Cheers, Donna Sent from my iPhone > On Jul 24, 2020, at 12:37 PM, Cameron

Well, if you're a control freak, then I am, too. I gave up trying to use Siri with the Nest, because I found it a little too quirky. So in a nutshell, the Ecobee works great with Siri, but the app is far less intuitive than Nest. The one thing I can say though, is when you change the temperatur

Hi John, We have the Ecobee. Mostly I use that app rather than the home app, or I just use Siri. Ecobee has done a nice job with accessibility. My only criticism is, having also used the Nest app, I like the Nest app better. It's less layered, so easier to do things like modify the temperature.
