Ricardo, thank you for telling me how to empty caches. There was no way to tell
whether it did so -- it said empty caches when I hit command option E, but
that was it: no choices, check boxes, etc. Is this what is supposed to occur?
Also, I did try resetting Safari the other night when I
Yup.
Thats all you should here after pressing command option E. About cookies, that
is my fault. I gave you some bad information. In safari preferences, go to
privacy, not security. There you will find the option to delete cookies.

I officially surrender -- after updating the Java certificate, emptying caches,
clearing cookies, resetting Safari, and clearing all WEb site data, my banking
site will not allow me to stay on and do anything after successfully logging
in, and sometimes will not even allow me to do that. Seems
I have a feeling that is what is wrong. I just used Spotlight to bring up Java
preferences and agreed to install the new certificate. Hopefully, once it does
its thing, I will not have any issues doing whatever else is required, and can
try the banking site again. If anyone has run into this,
Went into Java preferences, and there appear to be some edit boxes which I have
no clue how to handle. I've tried checking and unchecking enabling plug-ins,
etc., but have the same result on the banking site. I have no idea what else to
do except call Apple. I suspect I'll have to bring it in
Hi Christine,
I think that you have to log out and log back in again after making
your changes to Java Preferences in order for the changes to take
effect. I assume you mean that you checked the check box for Enable
applet plug-in and Web Start applications on the General tab of Java
Thanks, Esther. Nothing seems to be working -- it is so odd; I have absolutely
never experienced anything remotely like this before.

Christine, I'm probably being insulting, and I don't mean to, but have you
tried hitting refresh, command R, in here somewhere? Refreshing a page may
not be a wise thing to do when sending a form, but it may clear away any
auto-fill or other hold-overs from cache.

Since upgrading to ML, I have paid some bills with my on-line banking site with
no problems whatsoever. Today, though I was able to log on successfully
multiple times, as soon as I attempted to do *anything* on the site, I was
thrown off, and a problem report came up. When I tried to quit out
The one good answer I can give you is that Cookies and clearing them is found

I looked in Safari preferences, and under the Privacy tab, there is references
to which cookies to allow, but I did not see any option for clearing them. I
also cannot locate a general empty cache Looked in Security as well. .

Anohter thing you could try, is the Reset safari option, which is found in the
safari menu. In there, you can do things like clear history and other things.
Try that, and then try going to your bank's site again.

Hi Christine,
I'm not at my computer, so I can't check this first, but try going to
the menu bar (VO-M or Control-F2), right arrow to the Safari menu,
then arrow down to a Reset Safari menu option. I think one of the
submenu options you can check is to clear or empty the cache when you
perform
I did go into reset Safari, kept checked anything and everything I thought
might help -- I did not see reference to emptying caches, cookies, or anything
resembling that. I reset top web sites; reset history; unchecked saved names
and passwords; I think I left only two or three things
Hi Christine,
I read your original post again, and noted the mention of Java, which
is used by some banking sites. Java is not installed by default under
Mountain Lion, and depending on whether you upgraded or performed a
clean install of ML you may have a version of Java that is not
compatible
